This is very true.Well, when your division rival is working on a 3rd straight franchise QB in the past 30 years, it’s hard to not be pissed that Culpepper is a top 3 QB in your history. What can I say.

The problem with Culpepper, who was a unique player, with a great arm, size, and athleticism, is that he was never the same after his serious knee injury. The guy relied on his gifts to gain yards, rather than escape pressure, which i think is a mistake for any QB. Favre, Rodgers, Tarkenton... those guys used their feet and evasiveness to give their receivers more time to get open, rather than to make like running backs. As a result, they had long careers.Man, for a guy who consistently had a completion rating higher than 60% and a QB rating of 90 - including an outlier season of 110 where he definitely dragged a terrible team to a .500 record - Culpepper sure is taking some flak here. There have been a few guys who have had better single seasons than him (George, Cunningham, Favre), but for total career he's probably in the top 3 QBs the Vikings have ever had. Maybe top 4 at worst.
He would stack stats vs bad teams. Winning games he should by... A LOT. then would be the reason we lose to playoff teams every single time.Man, for a guy who consistently had a completion rating higher than 60% and a QB rating of 90 - including an outlier season of 110 where he definitely dragged a terrible team to a .500 record - Culpepper sure is taking some flak here. No one really out there.I would've thought the Vikings would have signed a veteran back-up QB by now. I wonder what their rationale is for waiting so long?

Isn't it the compensatory pick formula?I would've thought the Vikings would have signed a veteran back-up QB by now. I wonder what their rationale is for waiting so long?

Rypien isn't on the roster. Rodgers and Wentz are out there. May wait to see who is cut.Would look pretty terrible if they went into the season with McCarthy-Rypien and McCarthy got injured.
Same. Just something I heard.Maybe, but I have to admit that I'm not sure what that formula even is.![]()

Huh I see him as a free agent. He was on their practice squad.Rypien is listed as the only other QB on the roster currently.
Rodgers may wait till near the end of the offseason to sign, but I doubt it would be to backup McCarthy.
Are you talking about the comp pick formula? I don't believe Rodgers counts towards it because he was cut by the Jets.I now think that Rodgers will be signing with the Vikes. They are only waiting till April 28th, or whatever the date is. to announce it, so they won't have to give up a draft pick. I have mixed emotions, to say the least. After seeing how well some of the other QB's in JJ's draft class did in their rookie year, I really wanted to see him get to play, but i can also see the wisdom of handing the offense over to a QB who might still be able call up some of his old magic. if it fails, then you stick in the kid.

On the radio they said that they had to wait till April 28th to sign him w/o losing their compensatory pick. They were also talking about a couple of others QB's(Wentz, Tannehill), so they might have been talking about them. Are you talking about the comp pick formula? I think it has to do with the comp pick formula. We can sign someone after the draft and it wont screw up our picks.I would've thought the Vikings would have signed a veteran back-up QB by now. I wonder what their rationale is for waiting so long?
The comp pick formula. They get a better comp pick next year if they wait until after the draftI would've thought the Vikings would have signed a veteran back-up QB by now. I wonder what their rationale is for waiting so long?
