OT: Non-Hockey Sports Thread XII - Heeeeeeressss JJ! (Percy Harvin Edition)

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
This comment will be interesting to watch play out.
Nah. Who cares if JJ ends up worse. You have to find out. They weren't going anywhere (in the playoffs) with Darnold at the helm, so even if JJ ends up worse, it's worth the gamble.

You either have an elite guy who can win you a super bowl, or you have someone who can't. (or you have Nick Foles lol)

There is way too much steam built into a QB being on a rookie deal and how that creates “advantages” for cap space elsewhere.
Yeah i get it.

I misunderstood you and thought you were implying the Vikings would regret letting Darnold go yada yada

Dunno how i came to that conclusion.

Nah, the vikings will be fine with McCarthy. Dude is a gamer.

It will be interesting to see how Darnold does in Seattle. Seems like a right of passage for QBs that failed with the Jets to go to Seattle.

My overarching point was that every team has position groups with heavy vet contracts and offsetting rookie contracts.

Fewer guys to throw to and a bad offensive line. I don't think it'll go great.

With KOC too im not that worried about the QB position which is weird to say. If Zim were still the HC yeah id be nervous.

I don't think it will happen, but there is a lot of chatter about the Aaron Rodgers signing to the Vikings. I hope it's all just noise, because I would be sick to my stomach if it happens. I just don't think Rodgers has anything left in the tank and would be more of a distraction than anything else.

I hope the Vikings just grab a veteran back-up like Winston, Mariotta or Minshew and roll with it.

If the Vikings sign Rodgers, I will no longer support the Vikings. Ever.

Kevin Seifert was on KFAN with Barriero yesterday and said he was at Vikings headquarters yesterday and said the people in the know who he asked didnt squash the rumor so I think this is something they are looking into at least.

I heard the same interview. Siefert still didn't think it was likely, only that it wasn't outside the realm of possibilities.

Rodgers wouldn't sign if it meant him having to compete with JJ for starting QB. Basically, he would want KOC to commit to him as the starter. Unless the Vikings are lying to us and think that JJ is still another year away from being ready, I just don't see them wanting to sign up for the drama that would come with Aaron Rodgers.

IMO, the smart thing to do is to sign a veteran back-up to McCarthy. There are plenty to choose from.
