I dunno if it has been mentioned, but could Florida be a suitor for Dobson?

They're a great team but they don't really have an offensive defenceman, plus Ekblad is an upcoming UFA.

What's Florida offering in return? Main need is a top line proven scorer (that's not completely useless defensively) in the same age range as Barzal. Middle 6 pieces, cap dumps and overhyped prospects wont work once again.

This is just a guess but I would think NYI would be interested in Lundell. He is only 23. He can play wing or center. He is also a big 2-way forward and NYI loves those types (Nelson, Horvat, etc).

Now yes NYI has those types already. But, they are all aging:
Lee - 34
Nelson - 33
Palmieri - 34
Horvat - 29
Pageau - 32
Cizikas - 33
Etc

Lundell would greatly help them get some forward youth into the lineup. I would assume this would be a bigger trade…

The issue with Lundell is that he fills a middle 6 need but more realistically a 3rd line center need. If Dobson is moved, it's for a major upgrade upfront in the top 6 that can score consistently.

I don't think you trade a player like Dobson but if they have too i would like a return like:

Dobson to Utah

For

C Barrett Hayton
D Maveric LamourexUtah 2025 1st (top 13 protected) or a 2025 2nd round pick

I’d rather move Dobson in a 1:1 trade for a forward over futures.

The agent works for the player, not the other way around. Fans like to "blame" the agent when a top player on the team is in a hardball negotiation, that's a defense mechanism to not point their frustrations on a player they like but those types of rough negotiations are always player driven. The agent does what the player wants.
Agents get paid to tell players how much money they are worth and what kind of contract they can expect. Only a fool would pay someone 5% of their earnings just to ignore their expertise.

Yeah, that won’t happen
Never said it would but Stankoven for Dobson really isn’t worth it as a starter for the Islanders. Dobson isn’t getting moved for multiple pieces (including overhyped prospects and top 20 protected picks on top of veterans) nomatter how many of those offers keep getting posted in here. Unless they’re getting a proven scorer who’s in the same age range as Barzal, it’s not worth moving him based on this conspiracy people have that he’s going to hold out and walk.

I’m not sure I agree. Just because Lundell has never consistently played in a top 6 role does not mean he can’t be a top 6 forward. I think if given more ice time he can be a 2nd line center easily…

Just more so not what the Isles need. A younger top line winger who’s a proven scorer (to replace the pieces moving out) is more of a need over a middle 6 center currently. Winger shifts into spot with Barzal and Horvat then it all balances out. The issue once again is that Florida like Minnesota, doesn’t have a 1st this year and the prospects available really don’t move the needle one bit. Moving out Dobson and not getting a dynamic scorer to offset the offensive production would be a downright stupid move.

Don't think the leafs have the assets
Unlikely but a signed Marner + something(since he is a UFA) for Dobson

Maybe something like Marner + 1st for Dobson and Palmieri

All that being said If the Islanders could get a signed Marner they probably would do it straight up or even add. it would be like a game of poker. If leafs have no intention of resigning Marner then Marner+ for Dobson would be worth it, now if they think they can resign him then they would want more.

This isn't happening unless Lou talks to his agent and Little Mitchie agrees to a structure of an extension. Trading Dobson only to watch Marner (and his circus entourage) walk in July would be something of massive stupidity.

Would you trade Dobson for Stankoven?
Stankoven and what and what?

I kind of love this deal if you change the protection to top 3, but I don’t think it’s what Lou would be looking for

Not sure why Utah would do that?

On the RHS they have:
Durzi
Marino
Kesselring
Lamoureux

What they dont have is much at C after Cooley and Hayton.
