Why not just have the trophy presentation during the media days leading up to the Stanley Cup Finals. That will help drum up more interest by adding more media content to be covered during that lull.

No fanfare to put behind that and players leave for the summer way before then.

I watch most hockey and NHL-related programming, but the awards show has never been on my list of things to watch.

Till now it was in end of June so having it moved up would make more sense.

NFL moved to having one a few years ago on Super Bowl weekend.

Till now it was in end of June so having it moved up would make more sense.

It would make no sense and would be further lost to the shuffle, and players want to go into their offseason and be left alone.
