Bizarre deal for New Jersey. Glass is a defensive 4C, not sure why they're trading a 3rd and a decent prospect in Graham for that.

I don't think Stillman is anything of note, but one benefit with him is that he's not veteran status in the AHL going forward while Gruden is. The Penguins AHL team has a lot of vets right now (part of why they're really good) and they probably didn't want to waste a veteran spot on Gruden. Gruden is under contract for next year, so getting out of his deal allows them to replace him with a much better AHL vet.

You're not wrong, but Glass has shown he can score before at the pro level, maybe it's a bargain bin hail mary to bring someone into their lineup who might be able to contribute offense at center with Hughes out.

I don't blame them for not paying some of the prices for the top-tier rentals, assuming they weren't in on one.

Gruden fulfills the requirement that the Devils have a player in the org with the same name as a former Raiders head coach

First goal as a Devil, he looked good against the Flyers. Let's see how he plays next 15–20 games.

Love this.

I may be in a minority on the Pens board but I like Glass. Dude wasn't a world beater while he was here but I always appreciated his game. I thought for sure he was going to be a middle 6 center for us during our transition out of the Sid and Geno era but I guess we have Novak for that now.

Finally turning into that 2C people thought when he was drafted?
I'm curious how he looked in Vegas and Nashville, veteran, win now teams the entire time he's been in the league.

Just doesn't seem like a great developmental situation re: getting time to try stuff and make mistakes. But his game is very likable.

2 assist for Glass tonight, 3 points in 2 games for him
Some Pens fans had a clouded view on him. He’s a good all-around player. Wasn’t advertised as being a good skater or good defensively but he was both of those things here, plus good on faceoffs. Wasn’t scoring much but he mostly played with crap. Though he had a couple top-6 stints and still didn’t produce. He was drafted pretty high though and it wasn’t for his defense.

I don’t think he was ever going to get QOed though.

Another player that does well as soon as he gets away from Sullivan

I hope Glass finally finds his groove in New Jersey. They certainly seem to have a knack for bringing out the best of players.

We will see how long it lasts. That's my concern. Cotter looked like a world beater the first couple weeks of the season, then turned into a pumpkin. Hopefully Glass is more consistent.

I liked his game every time I saw Pittsburgh play. I agree that he has remodeled his game and looks to be a decent bet to become a solid two/way 3C. Not what he was drafted to be but still a useful piece to have on any team.

A Glass-Sprong duo actually makes a ton of sense when you look at the strengths of the two. I think Glass is a very good defensive player and a good playmaker, while Sprong has an excellent shot. I'm not surprised those two are meshing well, they definitely have a skillset that complements each other well.

Get a physical LW for those two and that looks like a pretty good bottom-6 line to me.

He's looked pretty good so far, hopefully he can sustain it. If he can't I could see the Devils not qualifying him.
Extremely small sample size but things have gone well so far.
