Agreed, however this is the easy part. Signing/acquiring depth players and selling them today to the highest bidder essentially can be done on autopilot.

It’s the next steps ie identifying talent and not overpaying guys that are worrisome.

I'm curious to see what Dubas does with all these picks. Does he keep them to build the organization back up or does he move them for another short-term fix?

I would have wagered a lot of money circa 2018 on Glass being a solid #2 center by now. Caught him a couple times in the WHL when he was with Portland.

When the Devils won the 2017 lottery, we moved from #5 to #1. That was back when the lottery was moved to after the U18s for TV reasons but it annoyed scouts since they would have focused on other guys depending on the results.

In particular, our head scout Paul Castron went out of his way to name drop Cody Glass almost as if he wanted to say he spent a lot of time scouting him thinking we'd be drafting around #5.

I'm fine with this regardless of the return. It was a free spin. He has talent, but too many plays die with him. I wonder about his mental processor. He means well, but he just isn't quite what I'd be looking for. He could use a bit of a game re-imaging to attract lucrative NHL deals in the future I'd think...

He’s already said he plans on using some of them for young players. Guessing more reclamation projects this summer. Peterka’s name has been out there for a few weeks. He may want paid more than Buffalo can stomach.

I have major reservations about trusting him to build a roster capable of winning from scratch. We shall see.

He's already taken the 27th ranked prospect pool last year to being 20th ranked. He has enough draft capital to push it up more. He now just needs to fire Sullivan, hire a coach that actually understands development and using youth like how the Capitals did with their retool and he's set.

If he keeps Sullivan, it's all for nothing.

Devils needed to add a center badly, fine price to pay if Glass is at least strong defensively. Hoping to read more about how stupid Dubas is for giving him up, get in here Toronto fans!

Lose Jack Hughes , Hamilton , Seigenthaler to injury .

Replace that with Cody Glass and Sprong ( currently in the AHL) .

Spend additional assets on Doumilin for ANA to retain salary … so Fitz can use over 12 mil cap space on … Cody Glass and AHL Sprong … gotcha . Good job Fitz !
Extended Kovy so we have 2335 RHD next year but have zero C depth and a league-worst bottom 6 forward group . Excellent roster management right there.

I’m so excited to try to squeeze into the playoffs and fight off the Jackets / Sens/Habs / Rangers / Redwings while having Haula as our #2C . He has zero points since November and does absolutely nothing if he isn’t scoring . He is useless . Along with Tatar , Dowling , Bastian , Mercer , Palat .
But hey ! We added Glass and Sprong ! Thanks Fitz ! He should have sold at the deadline instead if this shit pile of acquisitions .
