Lose Jack Hughes , Hamilton , Seigenthaler to injury .

Replace that with Cody Glass and Sprong ( currently in the AHL) .

Spend additional assets on Doumilin for ANA to retain salary … so Fitz can use over 12 mil cap space on … Cody Glass and AHL Sprong … gotcha . Good job Fitz !
Extended Kovy so we have 2335 RHD next year but have zero C depth and a league-worst bottom 6 forward group . Excellent roster management right there.

I’m so excited to try to squeeze into the playoffs and fight off the Jackets / Sens/Habs / Rangers / Redwings while having Haula as our #2C . He has zero points since November and does absolutely nothing if he isn’t scoring . He is useless . Along with Tatar , Dowling , Bastian , Mercer , Palat .
But hey ! We added Glass and Sprong ! Thanks Fitz ! He should have sold at the deadline instead if this shit pile of acquisitions .
Well jeez, when you put it like that...

It really didn't take much time for Stillman to lose any and all value, eh? None of this makes this deal look better for New Jersey. Gruden is your standard 16th forward on the depth chart who can look tolerable on a fourth line for a couple weeks, but has no offensive game to speak of. His 0 NHL games this season should say plenty.

lol what I mean he might not be good but he was a first round pick that was signed. He was a prospect even for like a week
He's one of the most derided picks I've ever seen. The pick was put on blast the moment it was made by devils fans.

The dude was playing in the Danish junior leagues lol.

He's not a prospect and I don't know many devils fans who really thought he was going to be an NHL player who got meaningful games, tbh.

They are both having terrible seasons in the AHL

Graham is unsigned, PPG in juniors and drafted in the 3rd last year. He's not a dead contract...

Didn't realize he was unsigned so its pretty much nothing. He's a pure enforcer. Devils fans considered it a thrown away pick. his main path to the NHL is some rule changes that bring back the enforcer role.

I wouldn't say Gruden's having a terrible season. He is what he is which is a bottom 6er who throws the body and can PK.

Bizarre deal for New Jersey. Glass is a defensive 4C, not sure why they're trading a 3rd and a decent prospect in Graham for that.

I don't think Stillman is anything of note, but one benefit with him is that he's not veteran status in the AHL going forward while Gruden is. The Penguins AHL team has a lot of vets right now (part of why they're really good) and they probably didn't want to waste a veteran spot on Gruden. Gruden is under contract for next year, so getting out of his deal allows them to replace him with a much better AHL vet.

Maybe he can teach our young AHL prospects how to fight…….did you see McGroarty’s first fight? If he simply can teach guys like McG and Koivunen how to hold their own when the gloves drop, his acquisition is well worth it.

If he replaces Curtis Lazar, it's a win. Plus he's signed for next season (RFA too), which allows Fitz to try and get a 3rd line centre in the offseason.

But yes, this is very much a meh trade for the Devils.

If he makes it to Pitt and start punching guys on the face we can bi*ch then too....

The OHL was shut down due to COVID, a lot of players went elsewhere to play. Tough to gauge, OHL kids were drafted based on where they were as 16 year olds. Probably a bad pick in the 1st but I’d still count him as a prospect, just a long shot with a low ceiling.

He's still only 21, so I don't know why he wouldn't still be considered a prospect. He's ~3 months older than Koivunen.

His numbers for his rookie AHL season were pretty solid. Definitely a long shot but a guy I'm happy to take as a throw in.
