Maybe but you have to start filling the building on a regular basis. having grown up in the area and having been to their first franchise game ever, I can say that devils fans (or ones who say they are) are extremely bandwagon. Teaching devils fans the icing and offsides rules over the years has been a struggle unto itself but I vividly remember every car having a devils bumper sticker when they were winning cups to none at all when they sucked. My favorite pastime was asking devils “fans” who the backup goalie was or your top D pairing only to be met by blank stares. You’ve also stolen some Rangers chants which is pretty lame.\
Nylander better not get more...
Great contract.
Was this when our backup goaltender was Vanbiesbrouck, and he played only 4 games all season?Maybe but you have to start filling the building on a regular basis. having grown up in the area and having been to their first franchise game ever, I can say that devils fans (or ones who say they are) are extremely bandwagon. I hope you found better pastimes at some point, that honestly doesn’t sound all that rewarding. A hobby, something.Maybe but you have to start filling the building on a regular basis. having grown up in the area and having been to their first franchise game ever, I can say that devils fans (or ones who say they are) are extremely bandwagon. Best guess:New Jersey has not so quietly gone from a terribad to a scary looking roster in 2 seasons. Good for them.

Best guess:
Meier - Hischier - Mercer
Bratt - Hughes - Toffoli
Palat - Haula - Holtz
Foote - McLeod - Bastian
Lazar
Siegenthaler - Hamilton
Hughes - Marino
Bahl - Nemec
Smith
Schmid
Vanecek
Players/positions listed in bold are ones I'm at least marginally concerned about and wouldn't mind improving further.
That's exactly what happened for a lot of deals signed in 2017-2020. It's hard to see the cap staying where it is though given the increased revenue and new TV deals. It would be really funny if we just had all this talk and jibber-jabber about the "big cap jump coming" and it just never comes and all these 8-year deals that are relying on it just get whammied
What's the deal with Nemec? I'm shocked he's not considered a shoe-in and his AHL numbers were pretty solid, what's holding him back?Best guess:

He is probably ready for the nhl but the devils could keep him in the ahl for one more season and let his contract slideWhat's the deal with Nemec? I'm shocked he's not considered a shoe-in and his AHL numbers were pretty solid, what's holding him back?
Just feels like with a prospect with that much upside it's probably not a good idea long term if he's readyHe is probably ready for the nhl but the devils could keep him in the ahl for one more season and let his contract slide
I’d bet that he makes the team out of camp but I’m sure the coaching staff is a bit hesitant on having basically 3 rookies on defense with Hughes bahl and nemec and two of them on a pair togetherJust feels like with a prospect with that much upside it's probably not a good idea long term if he's ready
he'll be up as soon as he's ready. I think it'll be out of camp, personally, but if the team wants to give Luke a couple months to come up to speed before introducing another rookie, I wouldn't be shocked, especially since his most likely partner is Bahl (unless they break up siegs-dougie), who has all of 66 NHL games.Just feels like with a prospect with that much upside it's probably not a good idea long term if he's ready
Forgot Boqvist as a probable 3/4th line option. I guess it depends on if Holtz outplays him in camp or maybe one of the two get traded . Hopefully Holtz plus plus can get us Helle or another goalie .Best guess:

He's still a teenager and even WJC eligible next season. He's going to get his chance in training camp but how often do teenage defenders not need some polishing before they are actually ready to play effectively? Typically a player drafted that high is on a bad team looking for any spark and gets a chance to play over his head to learn on the job. NJ doesn't need to do that anymore. Whatever is best for his development is presumably what they do. Maybe he sits in the press box to open the season and they slowly work him into games? As it is they have to work Luke Hughes into the games. Breaking in two rookies is difficult.Just feels like with a prospect with that much upside it's probably not a good idea long term if he's ready
While it is always possible, it would negatively affect the NHL far beyond we've seen thus far.It would be really funny if we just had all this talk and jibber-jabber about the "big cap jump coming" and it just never comes and all these 8-year deals that are relying on it just get whammied
He's going to given a legit shot to make the team at camp. What's the deal with Nemec? I'm shocked he's not considered a shoe-in and his AHL numbers were pretty solid, what's holding him back?
Only the fact that we’re going to be relying on Hughes and Bahl, both very young defenseman, already. Going forward with Hughes and Nemec in every-day roles might be asking a lot. If we had 5 other established vets, Nemec would be absolutely secure. What's the deal with Nemec? I did forget Boqvist. Well, if Holtz isn’t ready, Boqvist can fill that slot. He can also be the 13th forward.Forgot Boqvist as a probable 3/4th line option. Also need a stop gap , veteran D that can play until Nemec is ready . Maybe Devils will just hold tight and pluck someone off of waivers when teams try to sneak guys down while finalizing there rosters at the start of regular season
