I don't think he'll get torched as badly here as he did with the Seguin deal, though.

I still think acquiring Larsson will go a long way towards making Edmonton less of an absolute laughingstock in the NHL.

I get the overreaction from Oilers fans based on his PPG, but remember he was playing behind the worst offense in the entire NHL last season, most nights we iced 6 AHL calibre scrubs up front.

Larsson is dynamite AND cost controlled, he is an amazing shutdown defender (better than Hamonic) signed to a sweetheart contract for the next five years.

Believe me, i'm horrified to lose him.

Larsson is a lot easier to replace than Hall.

This is a hilariously bad trade, even if the Oilers immediately sign Lucic (who will probably get a really stupid contract).

Edmonton just traded a legitimate first-line, star level forward for a number three or four defenceman (albeit with some promise, but still). Absolutely horrific trade for the Oilers.

When I see Oiler fans say NYI would have to add significantly to Hamonic to get Hall it reminds me of CBJ fans who thought Nashville would have to add significantly to Jones to get Johansen.

RHD who can play on the top pairing have disproportionate value.

Don't worry, I'm sure the Oilers can replace Hall with another first overall pick next year. Which I suppose because of Vegas would be 2nd overall.

No one's justifying it. Most of us are not happy, but we have no control over it so it is what it is I suppose. Larsson+Lucic > Hall, but its still no excuse to trade Hall for this return.

At the very least Edmonton breaks up that "boys club" that has been festering over there.

Still, this deal is hard to swallow. Even if they get Lucic, will he be able to play at a high enough level for long enough to make up trading Hall? We'll see.
