Confirmed Signing with Link: [NJD] Devils sign Kyle Quincey (1 year, $1.25M)

Physical number 4 DD. Had issues with his return to Detroit at first, mostly with all the new D and him having to switch his style. For the last 2.5 seasons he's been on the top defensive unit with Danny DeKeyser having to shut down opposing team's top lines.

I figured 3 years at 3M AAV.
 
Your right, all 30 teams are battling to get him i'm sure. Really drove that price up.

Was a bit disappointed at first as I wanted to see one of the younger guys get a spot on D, but sounds like a good signing for NJ.

Yes to Girardi and no to Staal. Staal is not even remotely close to Girardi, the only thing they both have in common is terrible contracts.

But that's a topic for another day, Quincey was exactly what the Devils needed another reliable LD that can play second and third pairing.

Nothing was negative at all, he said he was shocked about the price and I explained why he shouldn't be, never said anything about it being a bad signing, or he's a bad player..then you brought up the Rangers for god knows why.

I just saw it as a around about way to criticize. If I jumped the gun, I apologize. And it's not a big deal. He's a depth signing, either he plays well or sits. No one expects him to win the Norris.

In his defense, you also did say "nobody wanted him" which you have absolutely nothing to back that up. Quincey could've been in discussions with other teams as well. That's like saying that nobody wants Russel because he's not signed yet.

Fair enough, that might have been harsh.

No worries. I wasn't against the signing, little signing like these right before the season usually work out well to plug a hole in the lineup for the season, and if it doesn't, no harm since it's a 1 year deal
 
Okay, so the Devils probably start the season with:

Greene - Severson
Moore - Lovejoy
Quincey - Merrill
Helgeson

With Santini, Auvitu, Mozik, Jacobs, and Gormley in the AHL competing to be the first call-up. Albany is going to have a very solid defense I think.
 
Was our best D at times last season, which admittedly is not saying much with how pathetic our team was.

Could be a steal if he plays like last season, you'll hate him if it's the 2014/15 version the Wings saw.

Than they sit him and bring up Santini. Although, I believe that Santini will make the team from the start.
 
Seems to me he makes a decent amount of bone-headed plays out there, including in his own zone. (Am I misremembering?)

So this while this is low risk from a $$$ standpoint, I'm not sure it's low risk for keeping the puck out of your own net.

Which is believable, this is a no lose signing for NJ really. Could get a solid top 4D for peanuts or could have a mistake prone pilon, but still for peanuts.

Steal. Not a flashy d-man but "great defensive play by Quincey!" was said by the Wings announcers countless times the last year or two.

Dude you can't help but comment on every thread regarding the Devils and it's usually a put down and Devils fans know it so don't be surprised when we give you ****. It gets old after 10+ years.
 
But back on topic this is a good signing. I thought he was already signed.
