While i also like the idea of drafting PK's or generally players that are good at other things than just scoring, SHP's is imo just a luck factor in a weekly h2h format. Even if you have the top five SHP guys, you will lose/draw that stat a lot of weeks since it's such a low occurrence/pure luck stat.
While i consider +/- a pretty meaningless stat in real life, i don't mind it for fantasy reasons. It at least adds a certain strategic element (do i want that top scorer from a team that will do bad this season or a top six guy from that team that should do really good). Getting rid of +/- would also impact one of my keeper choices and i doubt i would be the only one.
Neutral between blocked shots and hits. I like either of them as stat that adds another element to the league.
Exactly. Drafting guys who play on the PK doesn't necessarily help you with SHP since they're so random and few and far between. As I showed in a previous post, there's little season to season correlation, and even the best SHP players go through seasons with 1 or 2 SHP.
Blocks is an interesting idea. It would open up a new type player to rosterability in the league, which I like. It's also more consistent/predictable. This would also prevent teams from only rostering three defenseman and using an extra forward rotationally.
