Pesce is signed long term. Dougie has a big contract and is very good. You could probably sign Kovacevic to a Siegenthaler deal. The devils also have 0 organizational center depth outside or 13 and 86 and Kasper would be an elite 3C of the future.

I mean it's somewhat fair value although I don't think there is a value gap between Nemec and Kasper that warrants a swap of 1st for a 2nd. I mean it could be as I admit a bias since I'm a wings fan. But I rather hold onto Kasper as we need young centers more than a young defenseman.

i agree that the devils need more center depth. but the one position more difficult to fill than center is rhd.

They're not gonna put all their eggs in one basket with Danielson and massively downgrade picks to acquire a RHD that will never play ahead of Seider.

Especially not when ASP is developing as well as he is.

Kasper is great but he's not the kind of player you trade Nemec for, He may end up being the better player over Nemec. But they likely don't trade Nemec for a player that could be, they'd trade him for someone that is.

What? Nemec played at a top 4 level as a teenager last year. He’s just blocked because Kovacevic is literally playing like a top defensive D in the league. Nemec has proven way more than Jiricek who can’t even crack a bad roster

You never know with center prospects. He might turn out to be a 3rd line center or a top-6 winger. Kasper is showing he can handle tough minutes right now. Points is though that center depth is Red Wings weakness right now and RHD is not really if things pan out.

Yes, but his ceiling is probably Larkin-lite. As it stands now we need Kasper and Danielson along with Larkin to be 3 good 2Cs to have a window for SC contention down the road.
