  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
We all know what will happen this year right? We will struggle for the next 4-5, then go on a winning streak at the end of the year and miss the playoffs - BUT THINK OF THE MOMENTUM THAT BRINGS FOR NEXT YEAR

Worked well for Buffalo

The draft pick is cooked anyway so a late win streak doesn’t matter.

I’m more concerned about how we’re going to get to this spot next year again. Because I think that’s a tall task

Buffalo went through another offseason where they came out looking cheap and incompetent.

I think there is a kind of momentum you can get where it can have long term effects. The kind of momentum you get where players are drawn to your organization because they think these guys know how to win, when you pair those wins together with big offseason moves.

We have the top offensive talent and the elite #1D - which are not things I've said before heading into an offseason. The pieces we need to get to completely round out our roster are very gettable. I'm not convinced that Wads will be aggressive enough to get them, but it's doable, and that's more than we've been able to say before.

I won't get into commentary about whether we can compete for a playoff spot next year, because it obviously depends largely on what we do with the roster. Unless you want to debate whether our top talent is good enough (I don't think it's much of a debate).

Agree in part, disagree in part.

Agree with elite #1D. Z has been outstanding from game 1 on. And his offensive prowess, imo, masks some of the offensive deficiencies up front.

Not sure there is ENOUGH top offensive talent in the forward group.
Better than before - absolutely yes, but still not enough. Losing JG created a hole yet to be filled.

Monahan - yes. (effect of his absence on entire team is clear).
Marchenko - yes.
Fantilli - coming (so yes.)
Voronko - yes, for his role, but a slide in production/eye-test recently.

Beyond those 4, I'm struggling to find "top offensive talent" on this roster.
KJ - No. Looks lost since games have ramped up. Maybe it comes, maybe I am too critical, but he's been invisible to me for a while. The physicality/lack of space have taken him out of his game.
Jenner, at least the Jenner since his return, is not top offensive talent. He's fine as a 3L winger/C, no complaint about the player, but he's top offensive talent.
Chinakov - not yet, if ever. Glimpes of potential.
Sillinger - no, but he fills his role fine.
Olivier - no, nice season, nice secondary scoring but not "top offensive talent."
JVR/ZAR/etc. - no. Some secondary scoring, especially JVR, but not top offensive talent.

Seems to me that CBJ still needs at least one if not two top-6 wings - one line cannot carry the scoring load this time of year.

My question was does the club have enough top offensive talent to make the playoffs - leaving other questions aside - I'm not talking about whether it's championship material yet. I presume you're looking at that or some other higher standard? Because apples for apples we have better top six material than most of the clubs in our comparison group (MTL, DET, etc...)

KJ as your fifth best forward is something I like - maybe not so much right now when he's exhausted but I think he'll come back stronger next Fall and crush it. Having some assortment of Jenner and Chinakhov and so on in the middle six is fine too, I like how they compare to your 6/7F on most middling clubs.

Top six wings is not an issue for this club, come on. We need a lot of fixes but not there.
