I vote Jones, I watched both prospect scrimmages and both preseason games. I think Lundkvist looked mediocre and if I didn't know any better I would never have guessed he was a super highly touted prospect. Jones has been hands down the best Ranger on the ice in all 3 games he played IMO.

Great thread. Worth a good discussion.

Right now, and its early - its Jones for me. He has been incredibly impressive. Almost Fox-like. But that could change.

Honeslty would love to see both of them on the same pairing but its redundant and likely wont be tried unless there are injuries.

It isnt the worst thing in the world if Nils gets some time in Hartford to get acclimated to the states and the smaller rink. But once he starts tearing it up down there, who comes out of the lineup?

Good problems to have.

Schneider over both of them. Jones looks really good also but with left defense the way it is I would let him and Nils both go down to Hartford and play PP1 and get 25-30 minutes each. With Jones feeding Nils for his bomb. Let Schneider play 3rd pair with the big boys.
Jones - Skinner
Robertson - Nils

Neither, send them, and K, all to Pack to start.

Coach Turk gets deep familiar w Hajek, Bitetto and Tinordi
And over time the kids get merged in, as trades, injuries, suspensions, leaves, etc, open up spots

Jones if we're going based off of what we've seen so far.

At the least this should stop the trade proposals where hes literally treated like a throw in.

Yeah his recent showings and clear offseason development have leapfrogged him over Robertson and into the Schneider Lundkvist tier of prospects in my eyes.

Want to see some Robertson action also, if I'm going to disrupt this Lones vs Jundkvist debate.

Good heavens, what???? Am I missing the sarcasm? You want those guys to play? I cant even.

I'd still trade him for a good young Center straight up. I'd still trade him for Dvorak

? is moot to extent unless/until we deal at least Strome to start, we need to 2 spots for Gauthier, who we are keeping and Hajek who we are moving, but we have to up his value first.
Either of these guys forced, neither gets thru waivers.

Jones starts in the A.
Nils has a bomb for a shot which nobody else has.
They got Nemeth to work acclerate acclamating him to NHL.
Nils stays.

I'd be open to considering a move that eventually must be made but would prefer to see his trade value up first.

I want better than Dvorak, who's already been dealt.

I want to do Jones +/++ for a top end prospect +

I am fine with all the blue chip D guys together w Pack for a while.
I am fine w Gallant forming HIS OWN opinions of which vets may contribute and how they might best be used.
October and November are not about results, they are about the staff preparing to build their approach for the 2nd half, and a run at a postseason spot.

I love the kids, they will have great careers, but there is NO downside to a few weeks/months together and w Steve Smith.

I know the folks here rely on having their whipping boys,
but look no further than Pionk as to how 'he sucks' group-think is unrelated to what actually may happen on the ice.

There's nothing wrong with players having stints in the AHL. I disagree though, about there being no downsides. The downside is when they actually can contribute in the NHL. Id rather see Jones/Lundkvist learn/grow in the NHL over journeymen/marginal players that have no future with the team. Tinordi and those guys are nice backups to have, but that's all they are.
