Do people really think that if Hartford was, I don't know, f***ing Paris or Barcelona or something, that Kravtsov, Andersson, or Lundkvist would be cool hanging out there, playing AHL hockey? These guys had issues because they wanted to be in the NHL and thought they deserved to be in the NHL. We could have our affiliate in Charlotte, Henderson, San Diego, whatever, it wouldn't make a difference for these guys.
I do think it makes a difference tbh Hartford is depressing as hell. I know some people from there and that’s all they talk about

I can’t wait till Kravtsov requests one after being stapled to the 4th line and carpenter getting one. Oh and then Kakko too.

Team just went to the ECF and have countless other development success stories with an upward trajectory right now. But sure “somethingstinksinnewyork”….

Must be living in an alternate universe

Nils should become a good to very good NHL defenseman. That said he did not have a very good rookie North American pro year. He struggled with defending on the right side which tells me at least he would have even bigger issues on the left. He did not play all that well in Hartford. He’s also got a glut of RD ahead of him on the right and no the Rangers aren’t even close to ready to have him replacing Trouba. So I get why he would want to be moved. He’ll be spinning his wheels for at least the next two years or until he’s no longer waiver exempt. i think it would be smarter for him to come to camp though.

Ideally I'd want a forward of near equal value back, someone like Hoglander/Lundestrom/Kupari/Bourque even if we have to sweeten the deal a tad I think it'd be worth it moving forward. If we end up just getting a 2023 2nd it's not the end of the world but it's essentially a wasted asset as who the hell knows what the future of that 2023 pick will be. I know it's a deep draft but that's not ideal when moving a player like Lundkvist with upside.

It’s unreal isn’t?!?

I'm sure there are players for whom it makes a difference. Like I've said, though, we have absolutely no problem attracting veteran AHL players who know all about Hartford. We have plenty of prospects, including European players, who spend time there without any known incidents or complaints. And you look at some of the other markets--the markets in the East, in general, and the West specifically for European players--and you find markets that would be just as unappealing for various reasons.

Over the years, we've had posters come in here and say, you don't send high-end Russian or Swedish prospects to the AHL. I always thought that was bullshit, and still do. But there's logic behind that. Kravtsov wouldn't have stayed to play in any AHL market, despite his agent saying he was "open" to the idea or whatever. The dude thinks he's an NHL player, and if he's not in the NHL, he wants to be back in the KHL. There's no middle ground. The AHL isn't an option regardless of the affiliate. Andersson's circumstances were a bit different but in the end, I would argue that again, the actual location of the AHL affiliate doesn't matter. He had issues with the team and apparently some personal issues. He didn't want to play in the AHL. For him it was NHL or back home, or at least a trade to a place where he felt he'd have a better chance.

Hartford does suck, but so do most AHL cities and accommodations.

really disappointing. I wish he could have waited till after training camp and not done it so publicly.
He didn't. Brooks did. Players probably ask for trades far more than we know, it just doesn't get leaked out. Brooks hurt the trade value by releasing that information for clicks.

I maintain that Schneider wasn't materially any better.

That being said this isn't bad. It just is what it is. It's not a development issue at all and the team did nothing wrong. They like another guy better and there isn't space.
Right, I was just thinking about this.

This is weak from Nils. Schneider was marginally better. Who’s to say he wouldn’t have struggled as Nils did if he didn’t get a few months in the AHL to start?

He could have come to camp and outplayed Schneider. It’s not like he showed up and was some world beater.

I agree that Schneider was marginally better but I don't think the Rangers think that. And I don't think it's a secret.

So because he was (so far) wrong about Vesey, he isn't supposed to report other things? If that's the standard by which reporters should operate, we would literally not have sports reporters.
Yes?

Lets not pretend Brooks hasnt thrown shit around before. He is a reckless reporter and thrives for the clicks, who has also got desperate to report anything since Drury took over and seem to have shut the leaks down.

They probably don’t, but the long term potential gap for both is also pretty wide. I’m sure they didn’t do it with this in mind, but those reps were much more important for Schneider moving forward.

Every reporter is wrong from time to time. I think Larry Brooks is about the only person reporting on the Rangers that has an actual, credible background on reporting "inside" information on the team.

If your position is that this story might be bullshit because Larry Brooks, okay. I don't really want to go further down the Brooks rabbit hole because people feel how they feel about him.

Anyone else reports this and they'd be lauded for breaking a scoop involving a notoriously scoop-proof organization. Brooks does it, and it's f***ing click bait. Whatever.

Brooksie might have his little agendas and opinions from the 90's, and he's never shied away from panning the team, but I don't buy that he would leak information that the team desperately wanted to be classified.

Front offices around the league aren't oblivious. They can figure out Nils is available by glancing at our depth chart.

His value already was decent, not great. I don't think this changes it much.

To not even report to training camp is pretty unreal. Brooks leak or no, that was gonna come out very soon.

He probably should be traded but once again the Rangers mismanage a situation with their prospects.

If he was a 3rd rounder he wouldn't be doing this. These guys had to realize when the Rangers had a ton of picks in a short amount of time that it's a numbers game right?

Brooks is great at breaking actual news. Brooks is terrible at reporting rumors. I'll leave it at that.

Yeah, even if Schneider is garbage this season he’s going to have a very long leash. Lundkvist was never gonna have a shot, it was pretty obvious to everyone
