Good God almighty was that an under the radar pick or what from the scouting staff and Gorton? You have a chance to have the most dynamic blue line in the game in a year or so with him, Fox, DeAngelo, Trouba, maybe Miller by then, etc, and Lindgren.

It seemed to me he was kind of all over the map from 1st rounder on some draft sites to 3rd rounder by others. But there were sites that saw him as a potential 1st rounder. I think he kind of fell into the late first to mid-2nd round on draft day and the Rangers took him towards the upper end of that projection and he's going to be better than Bode Wilde whose tires a lot of others were pumping.

We could also have drafted Bode Wilde had we not wasted an early second round pick on a Swedish goalie whose name I have banished from my memory.

Ive been told we will never see a day with Trouba, DeAngelo, Fox and Lundkvist on the same blue line because they are all righties.

We had 5 left-handed defensemen on the blueline in the 2017 play offs. Nothing is impossible

LOL. Staal is old and Smith is terrible. Neither one will be on this team next year. Either both will be bought out or Gorton finds a miracle and deals them somehow. Spare me this civil unrest. It's nonsense. It's a few cities where there are some issues. Run by democrats of course. Mostly, it's a bunch of college kids who have nothing else to do but protest because they think it makes them important. If it wasn't for the virus, none of this would be happening. People would be at work and would be going out like they always do. The medical care in his country is atrocious compared to what you have here and that is the most important thing right now with this virus. Getting top care if you need it.

One or both of Smith/Staal will be here next year.

I stay out of politics, but it's very much not nonsense.

The political affiliation of those running the cities doesn't matter.

They're protesting b/c they want to see change, not because they want to feel important.

Generally, Sweden's healthcare ranks higher than the US worldwide. Substantially so at times, depending on the source.

Lundkvist staying with Luleå during the 2020/21 season.

Nils Lundkvist stannar i Norrbotten!

Glad to see this as I’ve been pushing for it for quite a while now since COVID-19 has spread. AHL is in serious risk.

So Nils decided not sign yet ? Official?

Kind of a bummer but he’s also blocked on RD so it makes sense. Likely going to the AHL the year after though.... hard to jump right into the NA game

I didn't expect him in the NHL this year and it was always debatable the pros and cons of playing in the AHL vs another year in the SHL. I would have loved to see him paired with Miller in hartford but i feel pretty confident in speculating that IF he is staying in sweden there is a 0% chance that he made the decision on his own and didn't talk to the rangers about what was best for him next year.

I have Nils as our 2nd best prospect after Shesterkin. He is our best defense prospect and I think he'd have no problem playing in the NHL next year apart from the fact that the Rangers have enough RD.

He was asked in one of the Rangers videos how open he was to playing LD and seemed non-plussed by the question. I don't think he cared for the idea. It is an adjustment and not one I think you would want to make with a first year player at the NHL level. If anyone I think Tony or Trouba--I'd rather keep Fox-Lindgren together.

If Lundkvist can't beat out Staal or Smith this year after his season in the SHL, he's in serious trouble. I've heard that DeAngelo can play the left side. So, I don't see the issue. I also don't see the organization putting Staal or Smith on this roster next year. IMO, next year the rebuild is over. The Rangers will expect to make the playoffs and compete for the cup as they should. Another year for Fox, Lindgren, Chytil, Kakko, Howden, Lemieux. These kids should start maturing. Especially Chytil, Howden and Lemieux. They should all take big steps up with their games. Fox is so mature for his age and Kakko so talented, I would not be surprised to see both the them take a huge step up with their games as well.
