You have to wonder whether Hoglander would be doing better than Joshua in those minutes right now. He was causing a bit of havoc in front of the net yesterday like he was last season. The scoresheet says he's still taking penalties but the last handful have been extremely weak calls.
At the very least it would make sense to give him the Cody Hodgson treatment if they are intending on flipping him. Get him some minutes with Garland and some looks on PP2, hopefully he can showcase some of his offensive zone talent and pot a few goals.

They don't really have the luxury of feeding minutes to a guy who isn't producing right now. They are walking a pretty fine line trying to avoid falling apart with injuries.
I hope he figures it out. Once you start really looking for the mistakes people talk about it's really obvious he's just making the same mistakes way too much.
Guy gets victimized for soft penalties but he's also way too sloppy with his stick and doesn't seem aware of whats going on in the game (if you are waay up in PP opportunities and in score then the refs are gonna call soft shit).
If he was at least reliable then they could really try to put him in a position to succeed, but he's a negative way too much.
He's still getting minutes. He's not getting scratched.
Tocchet has only benched him when he's done obviously stupid things.
What is he supposed to do? If Hoggy plays smarter then Tocchet can play him more. If he's playing stupid hockey and he's not producing then he's just gonna lose you games.
I get apprehensive when I see him out there at this point. Just feels inevitable the puck is gonna get sent around his side and he's gonna fail to get it out and they are gonna get hemmed in for another minute.
