Player Discussion Nikita Zadorov

I was referring to Hampus. Not that I'm a fan of Elias, he's been putrid. Another brilliant UFA signing by the smartest man in the room :eyeroll:
Ahhh, sorry. Yes.

Hampus when healthy is a very steady d-man. Key word... when healthy. The same can be said for McAvoy. He's had some concerning injuries as well. I believe he's missed over 110 NHL games in his relatively short career.

That's because they're f***ing idiots.

Zadorov is fine. He will be even better when he's not playing as their #1 d-man and can move to the #3-4 spot once Lindholm and Mac are back.

Whether you agree or disagree with +/-, the fact that he's a +15 on a team that's -54 is hilarious.
Plus / minus can be a misleading stat, and can also be used to support your argument, whenever it is needed, I am not always a fan of the stat, and maybe should only be used as a guide, and make you look further into the player, but you have it correct in this case, that is quite a discrepancy. I also think like you Zadorov is not a problem, and one of the few on his team that has had a pulse all year long, he has his warts, and was brought in for his physicality, and for the playoffs, the playoffs is out of his hands, and was able to deliver on the physicality.

Zadorov should have an A, but yeah, I don't see him wearing a C
I am bothered by there being only Pasta with a letter. Pasta deserves it. I would not be opposed to an "A" on Zaddy for now.

Once we get our team set up and Mac and Hampus are back and hopefully some players are added there should be a few choices for an "A".

It may even be Brad is back.

If Marchand is back then it's his team. If not I'd go with 3 As Pastrnak, Zadorov and McAvoy. No one else (other than Swayman) can impose themselves on the game regardless of who they're playing with or who they're playing against.

Once Hampus is back, he would get it over Zaddy.

I like the player. He has some bad moments, but for the most part he's been solid this year. He's also playing over his head out of necessity. Ideally he is on your second pair (or even third on a really stacked D) and #1 PK unit. He may be a little overpaid, but for me it's negligible based on what he brings. He's stepped up in a difficult situation. I am glad he is on our team.

He has stepped up you are correct, much like Coyle and Zacha did last year, but Donnie has not provided this team with legitimate players around them, and the prospects the have tried leave a lot to be desired, maybe this next batch, he will get right.

He's played with every defenseman on this team at some stage of the year, and now without McAvoy, Lindholm and Carlo he's playing the top pair. He's done everything asked of him. How people don't like that is beyond me.

Honestly I think the D would have been fine without the injuries. Mac was having an off year before his injury like most everyone, but Hampus was a real loss. And even an off-year Mac is far better than a prime Mitchell, Lohrei, Wotherspoon, Callahan, Oosterle (before he left). The forward corps is a shit show, truly.

Right now it's basically Zadorov and Lohrei (to an extent) and a bunch of #6-7 d-men.

I like the fact that he’s played all year yes. Five more years at $5M for how he’s played? Ick.

Cap is increasing, he's pretty far down on the list of people who are paid big money on long contracts that aren't living up to it. If you're expecting 15 goals and 30-40 points from Zadorov, you'll never like the contract.

I think he's a tad overpaid, but he absolutely hasn't played bad hockey this year. When you have it in your brain that he's some dog shit NHL player, you'll probably never see it any other way.
