That bench poke on Malkin was weird but I've noticed (and I don't think it's my imagination) that he seems to like to take extra hits, scuffle or whatever this jab was to other Russian players . idk if it's political, or some weird Russian comradery but it's a definite thing. Weird.

He just agitates. His teammates need to toughen up. And no not fight but stick up for teammates during a scuffle etc. I think he will settle in. Lindholm needs to comeback.

Yeah, and I think Malkin hit Peeke, didn't he? I don't get the league sometimes, I really don't. I think Zado deserved a penalty there, and maybe a reprimand (even a small fine to make a point) but that was stupid.

Cool. Still don't see the equivalence between the two things. We know $5k is nothing to these guys, so that being the case, they should at least make the inconsequential fines reflect the incident. If Malkin gets $5k, then Zado gets $1500 or something. But it's the NHL and they do things stupidly so often.

It's not "equivalent" but the CBA doesn't allow them to have bigger fines so they just give out the maximum. Have you ever seen them fine for less than the maximum? I don't think so.

Zadarov would be okay on a team that is already good defensively and they could tolerate and cover up his mistakes while playing in a limited role. He’s not a guy you want out there with a lot of ice time which seems to be the case now .
