I look at it like the B’s have a defensive core that allows them the luxury of adding Zadorov strictly to hit the shit out of people, stand up for teammates, be big, and play the system. Everything else is just a bonus and there is even a chance that he has developed into a larger role. Having Mac, Lindholm, and Carlo doing most of the heavy lifting will benefit him as well. And this is the first time this core 3 guys will have a 4th that is a prime nhl defenseman and will bring something they don’t for a full season.

He still has to play hockey. Everyone just thinking about the tough side, which I look forward too, but he needs to play smart. I think it helps with the load of the other three like you said. I think they were overplayed and it caught up to them. They were gassed at the end of every game it felt. Mac and Lindholm were eating too many minutes.

Definitely agree, that’s what I meant by playing the system while not having to be the main piece on his pairing.

I think Charlie has proven he can carry a pair-mate, and if the guy hes carrying can play the role as the beefy hitter, it'll let him play a better suited game. Or Lohrei takes a major step and Mac stays as the defense first hitter. In either case, I think it'll suit Mac to be one of the two roles, instead of trying to be all of it every game.

i'm tempering my expectations with Zadorov. He'll be a welcome addition of snarl and thump for sure, but i feel his run in Vancouver will be a high-point in an otherwise bottom pair career.

Hope i'm wrong

Honestly kinda think Carlo or Peeke are better fits as partners for Zadorov than McAvoy but I'm sure he'll get a decent amount of ice time with all 3 of them through the first few months of the year if not the whole season.

Zadorov will play an aggressive physical game and even jump into the offensive game a lot more than expected. I think pairing him with a more steady eddie like Carlo or Peeke fits better with him. Putting McAvoy with Lindholm let's him free up his game more too.

Think these two big aqcuisitions are going to be a firm reminder this year why Sweeney and Montgomery are tops in their respective professions.

It wouldn't hurt to try General Z with McAvoy for the fact that it will probably let him play a free simple game a bit and feel less pressured because lets be honest, McAvoy takes an absolute beating back there. It might work, it might not. Just wouldn't hurt to try at times.

I would absolutely run this to start the year

Zadorov - McAvoy
lindholm - carlo
Witherspoon - Lorhei/Lorhei - Peeke

Incredibly solid

Zadorov has always played his best hockey in a relatively niche role at around 18 minutes per night type of defenceman. I wouldn't expect that to change when he's 29. Lindholm or Lohrei next to McAvoy would probably make the most sense depending on the game situation.

I have friends & my brother in law who have these work rooms in their house that have everything. No matter what you need they have it - and if they don’t they hit Home Depot and they likely have an extra going forward or left over

The Bruins defense healthy looks like that

The plan of Bruins seems

1. Have a high end big skilled/phydical D & elite goalie
2. Have a top line that’s one of best
3. Have a big bottom 6 that is going to go after you and put pressure on you

Bruins have been Uber fortunate to replace their missteps

Pastrnak replaces Seguin 2 years after
McAvoy replaces Hamilton 2 years after
Swayman shows up as Rask near end

If Poitras could somehow be close or at Robert Thomas who they major F’d up not taking they are all set

The formula is a winner

Gotta get the D & G and then cherry pick the bottom 6 with attackers with some skill

Keenan Blackhawks were all about this - like flying monkeys coming at you

Bigger and faster with hockey skills if lacking hands and wiggle - but get the F after you

I can't remember the year you and Julia came to watch London win the OHL Championship.

Was he on the Knights when you came or was it the year after?

I remember going out for dinner, I had the ribs, and Kirk called me halfway through the meal to talk to Julia lol.
Yeh Kirk correctly realized she can pick out talent better than me lol

Gotta look at schedule today and check out when play Leafs - want to do a game and go watch London Knights or OHL game we can go out to eat & catch game

No trade protection in the last two years, and he's paid less than his actual cap hit so they've made his contract attractive to budget teams in '28 and '29.
