Player Discussion: Nikita Kucherov - Part 3

Just a random thought.

As I read a bunch of Kuch, Ovi, Crosby, Drai, Jagr, Mackinnon, McDavid threads.

All in all, I'll just mention how much It does suck to an enormous degree the fact that a player like Kuch with his passing, and playmaking has the most lackluster physical attributes compared to those players. I love his game being all IQ + passing and deception base, but just man................

He'd be 100x more dominant and could arguably carry a line on his own if he could've been more physically gifted, but who cares really.

Just feels like a Lightning thing, really. None of our offensive stars have ever really been gifted in the physicality department. You could argue Lecavalier in his heyday, but the game was also a lot different then too. Who's the last true power forward we've had that had a lot of offensive skill? Killorn? Lmao. Ryan Malone? Lol...

Come to think of it, it was certainly our draft philosophy for a number of years -- skill over size. Not sure if it still is, but. Yeah.

At least it's not size and being a Russian over skill like it was at the turn of the century. I'll rather take our current approach lol

Probably Ryan Malone and before that Freddy Modin. I can't really think of anybody else. Artyukhin was someone I was hoping could eventually somehow figure it out but the guy was an unhinged psychopath on the ice. Entertaining, though. Lol.
