Player Discussion Nick Suzuki Game Winning Goals Edition

Exciting to see what he can do down the stretch. So far so good. Proper captain. Ice in his veins. You know he’ll do his damnedest to will us to the playoffs.
Played well enough to be 1st star 3 times at home, giving him a platform to speak directly to the Bell centre crowd about how they were gunning for the playoffs. Could have played a part in keeping the team intact, getting his teammate re-signed.

A stats that you won't believe it. Nonetheless, it's a legit stats.

Suzuki is the only Montreal Canadiens captain to get 60 points or more during 3 seasons in a row. 61 points. In 2022. 66 points. In 2023. 77 points in 2024. 65 points (currently) in 2025.
That's actually kind of pathetic for us. I can't believe that's a real stat.

How the heck did Jean Beliveau not do this? Even Maurice Richard (who played in a low game era) has done that for sure. Maybe these guys weren't captain when they did it?

It’s kinda hilarious to look at this list. There’s a bunch of shortened PPG and 59-point seasons among the skilled captains lol

I just stopped by to tell you all once again, like I have been saying for a few years at this point, that Nick Suzuki is a bonafide first line NHL centre.

It is not a surprise that as our teams talent level has risen, his point totals have followed. We are lucky to have stolen him in that trade and lucky that they rejected who we had actually asked for at the time.

Suzuki has already risen to Price-levels of expectations (for better or worse) because he's so consistent so we kind of take him for granted. Once the 2C situation is sorted (I trust KH will have a proper one by next season) we are going to be spoiled with a supported Suzuki. We can already see the impact of Evans freeing Suzuki up for more offensive opportunities but with a 2C too the team is going to benefit greatly.

There were some wonderful threads in the poll section over the past few years.

Suzuki vs Barzal
Suzuki vs Cozens
Suzuki vs EP
Suzuki vs Stutzle - this one is still up in the air but I'll take our guy.

I'm sure theres more.

For sure he is. Imo, he is a top 10 Center in the NHL right now and I expect nothing less than a 90 points season next year. This year if he can finish between 80 an 90 it would be amazing for the Habs.

Can he score 21 in 18 ? Can Slaf get 18 ? Caufield 19 ?

That would mean Suzuki at 90, Caufield at 80 and Slaf at 60. Solid, solid production. Heck, 18 in 18 for Hutson would give him 70.

Would be awesome to see these landmarks hit.

EDIT: 16 games, not 18.

The Habs have 16 games remaining so it make those numbers more difficult to accomplish

He's a number one center.. last one we had was Koivu but he never had the talent of Caufield on his wing for most of his career, only really happened later when the physical toll on his body was there.

Cozens… man what happened to that guy? Got punched in the face and just went away.

Thank you Vegas. Nick has been a solid player for a while now and with Cole formed a dynamic tandem and now with Slafskovsky playing how he is capable of, such a tremendous trio.

It will be great if HuGo can construct that 2nd line. Need that 2c, and I'm hoping Demidov and Laine have chemistry.

Vs kk, lol.
Yup, love caufield but suzuki is on a whole nother level
Agree.

Though Nick is also 1 1/2 yrs older and basically 2 NHL seasons ahead.

The way Caufield has improved his overall game the past 2 seasons is impressive... I think he's going to top out much more of a complete player, despite his size, than most of us expected. Rather than just an elite sniper, I think Cole will become a modern day St Louis... Elite 200ft player and leader.

Caufield, Suzuki & Slaf are going to give us a trio of all stars reminiscent of the Bolts (be it StLouis/Vinny/Richards or Stamkos/Kuch/Point)... And then there's Demidov & Hage...

Future is bright 😎
