I have no idea why size has any say into someone's injuries. It's completely irrelevant.

This is a completely accidental injury that could have happened to the toughest, meanest and strongest hockey player alive. Fell awkwardly on his leg and got injured... Sheesh. Must be because he's short.
his lack of size/strength is the reason he was knocked off his feet which directly led to his injury , if he was stronger on his skates there wouldn't have been an injury

And he didn't lose a leg here. He'll recover. Just because you get muscle atrophy drinking beer in your basement watching hockey, doesn't seem like an athlete will get muscle atrophy from rehabbing for a couple months... Plenty of hockey players have injured worse than that and came back like nothing happened. It's gonna be ok.
Ya, I had to laugh at the muscle atrophy comment.
The poor guy has had some bad luck but he is young and will rebound quick enough

Don’t think size plays into the injury but I think when you watch his dogged forecheck he’s probably getting into the mix a little more than his frame is built for. At the NHL level he kinda looks like an undersized tank the way he attacks. He’s also a young 20 so he’ll probably be putting on more muscle and strength before all is said and done. Like Haley Wickenheiser said he could probably dial it back and find a good balance.

I'd send him back to junior even though he's an OA and good enough for the AHL. He needs to play hockey at this point and he's at less risk of re-injury down their.
He won't learn anything by going back to junior playing with kids. Him playing with men and leagues that play with more structure is where he should be to learn the hard way and break bad habits. Unfortunetly him learning the hard way has been resulting in injuries instead of turnovers and goals against.

Same reason a big guy falls, it happens. I've seen huge guys just fall awkwardly, even from *gasp* contact, and they broke or injured something. It's a pretty dumb reasoning to why he was injured as opposed to -- it just happens.

If he was stronger on his skates, he'd probably still fall. He's 19 years old. Of course he needs to get stronger... and he probably will.

Maybe. Im just saying even if he was 6'2" 200lbs, he'd probably fall at some point and it's entirely pausible he buckles a knee awkwardly. But his style will always bring more risk to injury.

I don't know what his size has to do with it.

I am not sure it's size as much as it is balance. He has very poor balance when engaging other players and gets knocked down because of it. I would know..I always got pushed over even if I was bigger than others because of a lack of balance for whatever reason. This is a problem that he needs to fix by being less of a mini-tank and more of a sneaky player like Caulfield. That little runt from montreal is impressive in the sense that he doesn't shy away from contact all together...but yet picks his spots and lives to fight another day.

The last two gruesome leg injuries to occur to Leaf players that I can remember...Jake Muzzin and Roman Polak. I guess they also just weren't man enough to not fall awkwardly on their leg. Such smooth brained takes from some people in this fanbase sometimes lol

Exactly my thought as well. I wouldn't put his size and injury issues in the same bucket at all, cause like SprDaVe says it's a fluke injury, but he does seem to play with a relentless power mentality which his body probably isn't powerful enough to play. Probably needs to work on his sneakiness and ability to fade in and out of the play like a Cole Caufield who seems to never get hit whatsoever.

When did Muzzin have a gruesome leg injury? I remember polaks vs the Capitals where he got hurt badly in the playoffs but can't recall Muzzin being hurt in the leg in a serious manner

His recent injury was not "gruesome". He blew his hamstring from just skating and was out for 3-4 weeks.

Maple Leafs' Muzzin leaves game with injury in 2nd period - Sportsnet.ca

Maybe it's because he's so tall and big that he injured his hamstring by just skating? Big players always get more easily injured from skating...

He didn’t just fall , he went to the boards to fight for the puck , took a small hit and was driven backwards onto ass with his leg pinned under him so I have no f***ing idea how you come to the conclusion his lack of strength played no part in his injury .

and why is it the player is always younger than he us when someone is trying to defend some strange point of view , lol

Because it's irrelevant and trying to make it always about size/strength is lazy and just doesn't make sense. It happens to big strong players all the time. But sure, Robertson is just not strong enough and that's the reason his leg broke. *roll eyes*

Injuries are not based on strength or size and this incident could have happened to any sized player. That's the point. You think it does, that's great and I'm glad you're able to have that opinion, but that doesn't mean it's not completely off the rails.

Guess how big Ekblad is? That's just one example.

Your leg breaking or not breaking has absolutely nothing to do with how big and tough you are. You just come off as ignorant to be completely honest. People fall in hockey...big players fall a lot too and get hurt. Get it together.

When did I say his leg broke because he was small ?

I said if he was stronger on his skates he wouldn’t have been so easily knocked backwards onto his ass with his leg pinned under him .
