Player Discussion: Nick Perbix

Career high in goals (6) and 19 points despite reduced ice time (only 14:41 compared to his 17:05 last season) and he’s never been a minus player (+11, +8, +8). The biggest difference compared to his rookie season seems to be his shooting: He had 111 shots in 69 games that season and now has had 57 and 66 in the past two seasons. He isn’t shooting as much but almost doubled his s%. I wonder if we re-sign him though. He’s 6’4, 26 yo, shoots right and still has some potential.

I want to see us acquire a legit shutdown top 4 RHD, push Raddysh down to third pairing, and then use them appropriately. Perbix is too much of a mixed bag

I saw enough of his play defensively. He could have gotten 10 goals and 30 points, I'd still want him off the team. He has the hockey IQ of a kiwi when anybody can actually skate. He pinches at incredibly stupid times and that late breakaway giveaway in game 5 is still etched in my mind. Not to mention the disastrous play between him and Lilleberg down low and net front. He sucks. Sure, he's "serviceable" and a "fine 6/7.." but we need to do better or at least *try* for someone better defensively. When things get tough, he won't even fight himself out of a wet paper bag, let alone impose physicality. He's sawft.

I will ring the bell at a local Long John Silver's when Perbix gets off this team. Couldn't happen sooner.

this exoeriment should be done, he can leave, Crozier is unexperienced, but he can replace Perbix, and with experience growning, who knows, Crozier could be better player.
If Crozier experiment fails, than we have Schmidt who is next and probably some D we get from Howard trade. So Perbix can go

Perbix had 19 points this season, same as Lilleberg. So I think they'll keep the 800k player, and not re-sign the other one who wants 3M.

Lilleberg was -15 in the 23-24 season, but this season with twice as many games only -1. That's real growth right there, the kid is learning. Value for money, Perbix...not so much.

Lilleberg is a LD, Perbix is a RD - they’re not competing for the same spot. Also, Lilleberg has a year left on his contract so I’d think he’ll be back next season as #6/7 anyway.

My point is that JBB will probably not re-sign a player for 3M, with the production of a rookie. But Perbix has some okay corsi stats, I'm sure he'll get a job elsewhere, maybe needs to reduce his asking a bit.

Lilleberg signed a new contract starting next season, one way, 2 years.
