I doubt they take the C away unless Nick asks them to. His selection was definitely a good representation of the Jackets as an organization
- conservative, middle of the road, etc. I'm guessing Torts' would prefer Dubi. Jenner may be too even keeled for him.
I still don't think the C means that much. The Jackets are going to finish worse this season with one than they did last season without one.
I really don't get this idea of the personality of "the Jackets organization". If you hire a president and GM from somewhere else, it's their personality coming to work. They have their own ideas built up from decades-long experience, and they don't give much of those up right after they move to a new town. Middle-of-the-road people don't call out their players for being lazy, and they don't hire people like John Tortorella.
IMO: The big contract $oftened Foligno. Its only natural, as its happens to many-many professional athletes. Nick will have to "re-set" this Summer and next season will show what he is all about.
I haven't seen him soften up much. The guy will take a hit, give a hit, fight. I see a lot more frustration from him but not softening. His hitting is slightly down, but I actually see many players on this team are hitting much less since "the injury season". And for all the talk about Torts' toughness his team doesn't hit as much as Richie's did.
I think Dubi and Jenner deserve extra credit for maintaining their ruggedness, but it's still hard to look at Foligno's work and use the word "softened".
