Niagara Icedogs 2024-25 Season Thread, Part IV

To be fair- It is entirely possible he has already done the first part and the icedogs currently don't have a way to spin that positively.

As for the second part, he probably doesn't need to yet. Plenty of time to figure out a trade elsewhere and is also probably having conversations with other teams behind the scenes (his agent obviously).
Meanwhile, Wes gets to tell the faithful there are no problems with Edgar reporting? I understand taking the high road, but as an agent I'd find a succinct way of saying there have never been any discussions about his player reporting to Niagara.

It's not really his agents problem to care about their front office lying to their fans, his client isn't going to play there so what difference does it make for him?

If I was talking to other teams, I wouldn't want Niagara saying I was going there. Especially if Niagara had done zero homework or had been told "no thanks" from the onset.

You think other teams are going to believe the agent of the player whos working directly with the player or the shady organization? It literally doesn't matter to them what Niagara says at all.

At the moment, Wes is probably busy collecting bags of money for those four later round players they drafted this year.

For what it’s worth, not only were Edgar and Tang absent, but I was told that Caden Bell was not at rookie camp either?

I can’t see any of the top players being happy that they were drafted by the IceDogs. Let’s be honest. If your kid got drafted by the IceDogs, would you want him to leave home at 16 years old and play for the IceDogs. I know I wouldn’t. What a mess this organization has become.

And they won't. The only thing that they can do is force a sale and have a shot at next years draft picks. This upcoming year is as good as gone. Sell off the assets you have and regroup with a new owner. Probably not what fans want to hear but this is the reality.

That’s a negative. He was there.
I did a quick double-checked with the individual who msg me that Caden Bell was not there. He told me the program listed Bell as #5 and he claims there was no #5 on the ice. Was he wearing a different number perhaps?

If we have new ownership, I believe fans (myself included) would support a regroup / retool year to get this franchise moving in the right direction on and off the ice.

Perhaps, but I can tell you for a fact he was there.

And with the delay in acknowledging the dumpster fire they allowed to burn under their watch, the OHL should grant the new owners a compensatory first round pick to restart the franchise.

I'm sure the agent is focusing on placing him on a reputable team and trying to facilitate a trade / find a home for him.
Assuming they’d be trading picks for the guy- would Saginaw make sense? They got a crap ton of picks from us when we traded for 3 of their guys.

Not fair to the other teams in the league. It isn't their fault Niagara has been run by morons.

You were the guy saying the other teams know Edgar isn't reporting. So if every team knows the score and every team owner forms part of the Board of Governors, then in effect the teams are the OHL. They let Niagara happen by not stepping in sooner. How many years did they laugh while Niagara had no leadership and they took full advantage. A compensatory pick is fair.

Fair…maybe. Reasonable…not really.
Fair and reasonable, just unlikely. We all know the OHL turned a blind eye to Niagara. Hell, most of them chuckled as DD stumbled his way around, or took full advantage of his idiocy. Nobody said THAT was fair or reasonable for the players, fans or staff. Good luck getting the OHL to admit they fanned the flames of the dumpster fire they perpetuated, but a lawsuit would find them liable.

For me, if new owners take over and it takes a few years for the IceDogs to get back on track, I am fine with that. As long as the team is being run properly I don’t mind sitting through a few years of a rebuild. That being said, I think the team has some really good pieces that they can either build around or trade away to hurry up the rebuild process.
