Kevin He won't be back for an OA year and Roobroeck is questionable at best.
I really don't see the league giving Niagara the Memorial Cup unless there is an ownership change soon. Remember, DD has done a lot of bush league type things, like not paying for the players meals when travelling to out of town games, taking long bus rides the day of the game instead of staying at a hotel, not providing meals in the media/scout room and we can't forget his 2 year suspension (which ends after this season) for the bullying scandal.
Before the league gives him the Memorial Cup, he needs to have a track record of running the team properly for multiple years. Awarding the tournament to Kitchener is a much safer pick.
My point is that if he stays on the road he presently is on and builds a team like he has now it will be difficult for them to ignore him and NIagara.
I am also not stating that you shouldn't go for it. What I am stating, and this is what is upsetting a lot of people, is that he has, through draft and trades, built a team that is quite formidable.
Even with all the sanctions.
Consider where this team is compared to Kingston. YOu can cry about the trades he made and how it seemed so bad but it was those trades and picks that he got that built this team.
He has a coach that is doing what is needed. He has players that have bought into the system.
I am sure that Boudreau and the GM are looking but then again 2 years is a long time and alsoremember the host site is decided before the NHL draft so Roobrek will still for intense and purpose still be an ice dog.
What I do not understand is why when you have a team that is doing really well there is this desire to screw it all up with trades or talk about the negative as[ects.
OR IS IT SIMPLY YOU GUYS DO NOT WANT A CUP WINNING TEAM OR HOSTING A m cup..
dO YOU THINK YOU ARE NOT WORTH
Consider that a lot of players get sent back from NHL camps. There is no guarantee that He will make the jump right away, and there is no guarantee that Roobek will not be 8 and done, especially if he is going back to a cup-contending team.
My proof is 2 words: Shane Wright remembers the kid who was a guaranteed first-overall draft pick guaranteed to make the NHL.
The first step is building a consistent winning exciting team. Niagara has done that if you do not blow it up.
Why not sit back and enjoy it. I think if you asked a lot of other fans on here they would gladly trade their team for Niagara.
Niagara is going to be really bad in the second half of the season… Owen Flores is already overworked. His luck is running out aswell as the teams luck. Consorti will screw things up as the trade deadline is coming up. The Aerosmith deal was terrible.
YOu guys traded for a faded rock band congratulations
