Would depend if your talking National or regional, and CDN numbers are hard to find now. What is the average 18-49 demo rating for an NHL game these days on Cable TV?
This should help....Which is not an insignificant figure, especially for Canada.
If Canada wants more team they need to flood the country with immigrants. Get rid of Visas. Let everyone in.
The Canada vs USA Gold Medal game was the most watched TV broadcasting event in Canadian history, with an estimated 16.67 million viewers. In case you do not realise, the United States has 8.5 times the population of Canada (335 million to 40 million).Well we had the 2010 USA/Canada gold medal game go to OT. And more Americans were watching than Canadians. So much for hockey being “Canada’s game”.
Yes comparing raw number as opposed to percentage is stupid. The Canada vs USA Gold Medal game was the most watched TV broadcasting event in Canadian history, with an estimated 16.67 million viewers. In case you do not realise, the United States has 8.5 times the population of Canada (335 million to 40 million).
I'm just amazed how many times you have been incorrect on ratings in Canada or Boston.
I cant tell you how happy I am that this f++king clown no longer posts hereRevs suck if we're being honest. Most new markets take to the team just like any other Major League. It's the old teams from the 90s when it was "Minor League" that's the issue.
But you got my point I see from the like you gave. But let's not begin to derail with MLS. Lord knows someone will cry about MLS talk when it's the same 5 users or so that bring it up to deride MLS.
Fact is NHL had a 80 yr headstart for cultural relevance in a much lesser competitive media Era with 3 to 4 channels. MLS has had to evolve in a much more crowded market with cable fragmentation, yet grows in popularity. NHL should have a WIDER lead instead of just 100-150k in average viewership and a little over a few million more in avg for Stanley Cup vs MLS Cup.
This along with a feeling of disrespect in sports media/social media about NHL at times triggers them so they lash out at MLS. "We can't do anything about being the grunt of the original Big 4 (now Big 5 ) but hey at least we're ahead of MLS guys" Some NHL fans end up doing to MLS what they dont like being done to MLS lol. A spade is a spade. No one brings MLS up unsolicited here thats a myth. It's brought up in the fashion I just said as a NHL fan ego boost.
It's always the same 3-4 people.
Lol like you're response to bad NHL ratings was to try to silence the one guy and a page later jump into your normal bash MLS routine. Like clock work. Anyway thought you put me on mute. Rent free I tell you.
Truth!

My 2 favorite parts of that meltdown was when I said "the last time I mentioned the MLS inna negative light was in January of 2022"His multi-page, rapid fire, multi-paragraph 25 or so posts in a row meltdown was absurd. Just made-up MLS [and NHL] #'s, repeatedly over the years.
The annoying part is when the mods cleared out the posts during said meltdown they deleted others posts in that, that had actual and relevant viewership info.
I also got banned for a week from the Business of Sports board for my role in that meltdown, when I was the one that went to the mods in the first place. His multi-page, rapid fire, multi-paragraph 25 or so posts in a row meltdown was absurd.
