Tough going up against legit breaking news, but at least the series has been extended. If the cats can win game 4 we’ll get decent game 5 and 6 numbers

Last years final was more high profile + two teams with large support in the US compared to Man City and Inter. I know it’s slightly ot, but I can’t believe that CBS crew is so highly praised, that pre and post match was an embarrassment

Last years UCL Final did 2.761M on CBS.

SCF through 3 games this year is averaging 2.628M.
Lower rating for the UCL final this year for sure since Inter is not that big as Real Madrid as a draw.

Champions League no question. The Cup Final is thus far a ratings disaster due to being between two Sun Belt teams.
A disaster would be if the SCF were lower than the covid years which they're not. If I'm not wrong it's also better than 2006/2007 so yeah it's bad but no a disaster or an all time worst. Next time on cable let's see if they get a better matchup the numbers.

Way over 2.5m on cable with these two markets is absolutely not a disaster comparatively speaking, especially with breaking cable news.

I was just providing the numbers, forgot to give my 'guess', but I think it'll be close for Saturday between UCL & Game 4.

And exactly. Lot of people kept saying all-cable would be the worst SCF avg viewership of all-time, which was incorrect to start, and then when we got the all-"grow the game" matchup it was repeated but still wasn't going to happen.

Again, not good numbers, but not a disaster and not worst ever. Still trending well ahead of 2006 and 2007 and easily beating 2020 and 2021, through the first 3 games that we have numbers for.

Man City is getting a ton of publicity since they did the treble, but their fan base is extremely small. They barely can sell out games in their stadium. I do think the CL did well because it involves an EPL team, but it won’t beat the Stanley Cup because Inter was in it and they are irrelevant as a team in the US/Canada.

I just think that in the US unless it's a PL vs PL matchup their best get will be Barca/Real the other leagues are not that popular

You might know the ratings better than me, but I think Bundesliga was quite popular in the States, especially when it was on Fox. I think Bayern vs BVB beat some NBCSN NHL games if I remember correctly.

Comparing to the UCL final is not apples to apples. A winner take all game is equal to a Stanley Cup game 7 which has typically been between 7 and 9 million viewers on OTA through the years. A game 6 does well also. Cable is 35% less viewers for NHL finals games versus OTA. UCL was on CBS I believe. These aren't excuses but reasons why comparing tv ratings need to have some context. You could also take the Blues/Bruins game 7 a few years ago which had 9 million viewers compare it to a rating on cable for an event (UCL final would be much lower than 2.6 million viewers on cable, probably 1.8-1.9 million). That also wouldn't be 100% fair comparison but at least closer to apples to apples.

Bundesliga is hard to say they're almost 100% on ESPN+ with a couple a games on ABC that draw well but we're talking between 3 to 5 matches in like 300 all season.

I am left speechless now. I just watched around the horn, and not 1 mention of what could be the final game for the S. CUP tonight. you'd think at least a small preview of it, or mention that tkachuk is hurt, etc. Not one mention. Instead, they showed a College Baseball pop up that was misjudged.. These guys really don't give a crap about hockey.. And it's not like it's 2 canadian teams in the final. Unreal

I was just looking at last yrs sc final ratings. It averaged 4.59M and they said it was the 3rd lowest SC final on record. This yr, we are barely averaging 2.6M.. man, that is extremely embarassing. How can ppl be happy with this rating????No one in the US is watching this series.

The rating was gonna drop no matter what between last year to this year unless it was BOS vs MIN or SEA considering it’s on TNT instead of ABC. Nobody is shocked by this, so idk why you are overdramatic about this. Honestly, the rating is about what you expect. The real question will be can TNT get a higher number in 2025, we will see on that.
