As per @NHL_AaronWard, the #Canes have signed forward Raffi Torres to a PTO #NHL

That's too bad. I was hoping no one would offer and he'd retire. Players brains in the NHL would be a lot safer.

Hopefully he gets cut.

Flames have invited Brayden Burke to their camp:

http://lethbridgeherald.com/sports/local-sports/2016/08/30/burke-ascending/

Prior to last season, few people outside of Peter Anholt would have predicted Brayden Burke would finish the season as the third-leading scorer in the Western Hockey League. The Lethbridge Hurricanes’ general manager’s belief in Burke has been unwavering, but for most of the league his 109-point season was a shock.

It’s also a big part of how the Hurricanes went from a dumpster fire to a hot commodity. With Burke playing top-line minutes for 72 games, the Hurricanes went from 48 points to 94. Tyler Wong, playing on a line with the pass-first Burke, scored 43 goals, a 16-goal improvement from the previous season.

This year, Burke is at training camp with a pedigree, and an NHL camp invite from the Calgary Flames. He leaves on Sept. 15 for the early days of NHL tryouts.

Burke went undrafted – again – before Calgary called but he’s heading to the camp hoping to show he can play with others at that level.

In addition to those drafted and signed by the club, the Los Angeles Kings are prepared to welcome a handful of additional prospects to rookie camp, team sources have confirmed with LA Kings Insider. Those expected to participate include Quentin Shore – a younger brother of Los Angeles center Nick Shore – as well as fellow forwards Justin Gutierrez, Shane McColgan, Alex Barre-Boulet, Matt Luff and Kameron Kielly, and goaltenders Jonah Imoo and Brody Wilms. Forwards Sam Herr and Miles Koules and goaltender Jack Flinn are also expected to attend rookie camp on AHL contracts.

Kielly, Flinn, Herr and Koules are all invites that were not previously known about.

Man, I thought McColgan was gonna be an all-star when he first joined the Kelowna Rockets at 16.

Anything to see here? Any realistic chance he gets anything more than an AHL only deal?

I remember his draft year being so stoked that I got him in the 4th round and then meh, nothing.

Maybe they were invited to other training camps.

It's possible, though I can't imagine either guy being too highly sought after.

IIRC, one team last year announced their roster, then kept adding players afterwards. It might even have been Tampa...

No talk about the Biznasty PTO? Surprising.
Granted, I don't see it confirmed anywhere else but the OP...

He's been in the kings system for a few years now. Played in the AHL. I would think this is a warm body with some.of the kings forwards being invited to the world cup

For the Oilers, Gryba has a PTO on the table but is waiting for a contract. If he takes a PTO it is with Edmonton per his agent.

It was tweeted by James Mirtle (Quoted in Post #46).

Bissonnette is signed to an AHL deal with LA's AHL affiliate in Ontario. It's fairly standard procedure for many NHL teams to invite players on AHL deals to main camps. For instance, last year Toronto invited Rich Clune and Andrew Campbell both to main camp while on AHL deals and ended up signing them both. So it IS possible that this leads to something else, but many players on AHL deals go to main camps and never see a minute of time with those teams also, so it's not likely.
