NHL trade deadline thread (2025)

Is Friedman implying:

A) They do not want to pay other young players (Peterka) because of mistakes on others in the past?

B) Also says they are scared of loosing other players (like Eichel, Reinhart, O'Reilly) who go on to success.

So WTF ?

More mistakes by Adams without accountability.

I am all for trading Cozens and Power too if it gets a 1C back. Both got contracts they shouldn't have gotten but to be stuck in purgatory and do nothing because you are afraid?

I really can't stand this franchise. Please sell Terry.

How about Buffalo Sabres becoming a publicly traded company like some other teams have done.(Manchester and the Rangers to name two). At least then someone will be held accountable.

The Sabres cant be at the bottom again . They need to change now. good players in with trades . How can they just wait it out . This should start now and continue through the draft. I dont agree that Adams will not do anything , of Course he Will try to improve . He tried this last deadline with Byram trade . But they need to have guts not being scared trade the Young players and picks that they drafted .

Hola, Habs fan curious. I try to figure out any reason why a team like Sabres would want to part with a young C like Cozen. I feel he's having huge upside as an top of the range 2C. So, as you guys follow this team all the time, I'd love to get your insights. Thanks and have fun tonight at Bell center !

Not really excited for the TDL like I was in the past. Personally just kinda waiting till the offseason to see the BIGGER changes all around. Management included.

Cheers
Uhhh.. that's kinda sorta like what we expected last offseason.

Where did that get us? Bottom 5 team in the league. Again.

Pham on wgr pregame- "talking to several people around the league, Kevin Adams likes to talk about deals but then not pull the trigger on them when it gets close, making it very frustrating to the other general mangers around the league"

He did not imply it was owner interference, but thats my guess...

I don't know, it could be his internal angst about getting taken to the cleaners again.

He just doesn't have the confidence to pull the trigger. (although I'm absolutely not ruling out Pegula interference at all. )

I think we can rule out Pegula interference with the agents article saying Pegula isn't really present.

If I had to guess the hesitancy, it's because the players show glimpses that they can absolutely be great players and he wants to extract every last opportunity for them to do it consistently. It's a hell of a dilemma.

The hesitancy is he's f***ing clueless.

Depends on how they define "present". Pegula isn't around the rink much (or WNY for that matter outside of Bills events) but that doesn't mean he isn't on the phone or video chat with Adams constantly.

I don't think he is clueless, he knows the holes he has but he has limited options in addressing said holes and needs to make them count. It's a unique pressure cooker for sure and interesting to watch.
He doesn't know his roster. Not when he makes a trade that forces the team to rely on TT/Cozens as the top two Cs (and then has to fall back on a rookie). Not when he lets Power go on without a legit partner for years. Not when he forces a rookie goalie to start over and over when he's clearly not ready.

I cued up the y/t link to the Sabres part
Thanks

Listening to it, it comes across like everything he is hearing are his opinions and from former sabres or other teams. Not current sabres

Also sounds like he has no inside info on the sabres and has no idea what direction the sabres are even remotely trying to go towards (like everyone else) and might have given up on the sabres like 99% of sabres fans

The agents article made it seem like he is lacking involvement, I know a few years ago Adams said he talked to Terry everyday but I haven't heard that in awhile.

I'm also kind of hoping it is a quiet deadline sans some roster filler moving out.

That article did a lot of shoe horning.

How could we not be excited with more youth and pick from one a bottom of the league prospect??

What about the exciting possibility of adding Tarasenko, Holl , Velano or Rasmussen??

We could also look at a one for one to get back O'Reilly, that would be fun. What about a package including Nyquist, who was traded the day before or some studs like Novak, McCarron, Scissons, Smith or Svechkov...

Keep the vets, ditch the youth.

I don't want to win a Cup anymore. I just want to care about hockey through at least the middle of April at lest once before the decade ends.
