My guess (pure speculation) is that he didn't have LA on his list, but since they're a contender Sweeney thought he would ask and see if it was possible.

Ullmark likely didn't want to be across the country due to his family living in Boston if "geography" was the real reason. Again, pure speculation.

Ullmark has a 16 team list, put the teams you know need a goalie on it and leave off the Florida's and NYR's because they have great goalies. Can probably make it so he can't get traded to 95% of the league
