Yep. No team is going to say "No, we don't expect to make the playoffs" when they haven't been mathematically eliminated yet.

yep if you win a few games from now on and continue to win 3 to 4 games in a row there a chance Canucks will get in

We did. People just love to be overly optimistic about anything Gillis initially does, but reality will eventually set in as it always does.

As long as we're making generalizations, there's also the other group of people to which you belong, that are overly pessimistic about anything Gillis does. The difference is reality never sets in for you.

Seems valid given the direction of the team. What? Should we be happy with certain mismanaged moves?

This franchise had an opportunity to turn a **** year into one with at least a fresh outlook.
Instead, 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

This franchise is a shill.

The franchise is a shill, for not taking a possible lowball trade for one of its best players??

Crazy Canucks fan logic at its finest.

"I have been watching hockey on TV for years, therefore I could have fixed this team with style and ease!"

"I traded Kesler for Crosby in NHL14. Gillis is a tool for not doing the same."

Hey guys ownership clearly nixed the deal.

Because teams are lining up to give a top end prospect, a 1st and a quality roster player for Kesler in a buyer's market. Like Detroit. Out of our division. In the other conference.

Find it disheartening that even posters who I respect on this forum are jumping to conclusions.

If that's what Gillis thinks Kesler is worth, you guys will have him around for a long time, now that it's rumored that he wanted to be moved, it's only going to be harder to do so

Surprised by the lack of move. Expected at least 1 forward to be moved along with at least 1 dman. Guess the rumors of 'nucks not completely giving up might still be true (at least management not giving up on the year... players = another story).

Decent value for Diaz given the market today... looked like a buyers market for the most part. At least after the luongo trade and likely Booth buyout, we'll have cap space to add 1-2 forwards during the off season/draft rather via trade or UFA. Question is... does any star player actually want to play for JT? Seems like any star player he gets fail to produce much at all (beside goalies). Take a look at Richards, Nash, Sedins, etc... his recent track record with stars has been anything but impressive.

Wow. Vanek may not even be returning a pick with Collberg......

Arthur Staple ‏@StapeNewsday 2m
Misread a text, sorry. Both picks, MTL's 2nd and the #Isles 2015 5th, are conditional. If Habs miss playoffs, no picks change hands.

Lol, MTL should make it, but I like the conditions on even a 2nd rounder for Vanek. What a prize.

Who said that's what Gillis thinks he is worth?
That's the Detroits media spin. The answer probably lies somewhere in the middle.

Oh right, I forgot we were supposed to be trading Luongo for Kuznetsov+

:help:

Don't forget Mason Raymond for a 1st round pick last deadline, the Sedins for MacKinnon, Edler for Drouin, Luongo for Patrick Kane, etc. Someone's got to get ahold of ownership and tell them to hire Y2K because this team would be a dynasty.

I think its worth discussing. So far I've seen credible people talk about Ownership:
1. Forcing Gillis to sign Luongo
2. Forcing Gillis to hire Torts
3. Forcing Gillis to trade Schneider and keep Luongo
4. Forcing Gillis to nix a potential Kesler trade

Are any of these credible? Who knows, but definitely a valid discussion at this point..
