And that’s relevant to this coming season how?
well its also affecting the Leafs bias as well.
Can't wait for the season to start. I have a feeling yall forgot how good the Leafs actually are.

I'm surprised how much love Florida is getting. They haven't won a playoff round since 1996!

Last year: lost to the team that won the cup.
Previous year: lost to the team that made it to the ECF's.

I doubt they draw the Lightning in round 1 next season.

Well its certainly not impossible for them to draw the lightning in round 1. they could easily end up 2/3 or 1/wildcard depending on Boston and Toronto's regular season successes.

They weren’t a very strong team two years ago, they finished 10th in the east!

They’ve had one successful year where they lost in round 1.

Have a feeling what? Because I, or anyone else for that matter, didn’t vote the Leafs as the best team in the league? Jesus, get off your high horse. Man, if you guys aren’t listed first in everything, you have such a fit lol. They are a top 10 team, but they don’t have the depth that other teams have, which is why they will be placed in the bottom half top 10 where they deserve to be.

The Panthers have the better D core. They have the better forward group. They have the capability of having the better goaltending tandem. Better coaching staff and management. Does that make the Leafs a bad team? Nobody said they were.

Very relevant. The loser culture is strong and they have not recruited any winners. They will be the biggest upset next season as well.

So other teams can lose in the playoffs, or not even make them, but can’t improve on that, like the Islanders for example?

Florida isn’t Toronto. The pressure to get past the first round is there by our ownership and fan group, but it’s nowhere near the pressure the Leafs fans put on them. Last years team went against the eventual Cup champs. Any other way, they possibly/probably win at least round. That loss in seared in the head. They got better this off-season, and have the veteran leadership needed to get the, over that hump.

Santa COVID won't be dropping down the Leafs chimney this season bearing gifts. When it's all said and done, the Leafs will be lucky if they finish 2022 as a top 10 team.

They should not be ranked this high before they have proven something. This is the definition of being overrated.

Carolina is so much better, right now.

Arguable, with less experience. Just the top 4 forwards, goes to the Leafs too.
I don't think they're deserving of #1, but going into the last week vying for presidents trophy, should count for something.

I know you will always think we declined...but probably not.
You want to talk about a team and Santa, look at your own, and you got that gift 2 times.

Carolina got worse in the offseason, and Florida better. How are they so much better?

How do you know? You have only seen the roster on paper. No games, no results, no nothing yet. Only a couple of first round exits.

Less experience? Zito was an agent and assistant GM before becoming the Panthers GM. He’s done more good in two off-seasons than Dubas has his whole time with the Leafs.

You guys are talking like people are rankin the Leafs last. Sure, there is hatred for them, on this board, but they are still a top 10 team. The Panthers top 4 is just as good overall, but the depth throughout the whole lineup is better.

And BTW…the Panthers were also vying for the Presidents trophy too last season.

Don't know why everyone is jumping on you, your point is a perfectly reasonable one. Most will hold the Leafs inability to get out of the first round against them in these polls, even though the past has no bearing on the future. Using that logic Florida wont make the playofffs at all, when's the last time they made the PO's in back to back seasons (2020 Doesn't count)?

Or maybe Florida does make the playoffs but their destined for a first round exit. After all outside of 1996 they've never won a playoff series in their history.

Nobody except for Leafs fans are bringing up history. Nobody is knocking the Leafs. They are a top 10 team, it’s just the teams being voted ahead of them are, get this, better teams. I would say to bring up logic to why you don’t think that’s the case, it I see your post count, so I’ll just end it here.

Post count shaming, really:laugh:

If you think nobody is gonna dock points from the Leafs for choking year after year, I cant help you. And to be clear I was making a point (which was obvious) not opining on which team I think is better.

Im not docking points because they choked last playoffs. I’m not docking points at all. I think the teams voted already, as well as Carolina, are better teams going into THIS SEASON. If you would read the thread, instead of coming in and trying to hijack it with your trash responses, then you’d see that.

I never claimed you specifically are docking points, just that some will. Hence my defense of the Leafs fans who brought it up, I think this is obvious, I'm certainly guilty of it.

Carolina was much less scary than Florida last post season imo, I wouldn't have them ahead personally.

I don't feel Florida is a better team at all
