The Senators are almost there they have a lot of young talent that has graduated and they just need to find the right talent to be around them.

Just need to break through. Those Atlantic teams at the top have been doing a good job holding on.

Two tax free teams in Florida and 4 of the original six teams which are all massive franchises - it’s not easy that’s why Sens fans are so awesome and hilarious

What happened to their scouting department? They used to be a top shelf drafting team and they’ve been pretty bad in recent years.

Dorion traded away all their picks for Debrincat Chychryn to sell tickets to boost their value when they were sold. Good scouts just no real picks to make an impact

They may be encroaching on the loafs streak of finishing out of play offs 11 of 12 seasons. So the Sens are not alone by any means.
The Habs seasons of celler dwellers for atleast a half dozen straight years, Coyotes irrelevance, the Minnesota who? Shark tanking , Anaheim Duck Soup , etc........but are the Sens the "worst" ?...... Nah !

No where to go but up .....
like the 2016 leafs way back in the day.

You could literally copy and paste your post with any other team in the league that's struggling.

Why does Ottawa get the benefit of the doubt when other franchises don't? Why does Ottawa get to disavow bad ownership, but that excuse doesn't fly with other organizations?
There's no other situation like Arizona though. Ottawa may be struggling, but the agonizing Coyotes made the league look like a complete joke. It's been embarassing headline after headline for them for basically their entire existence.

When the Senators are planned to play a minimum of 3 seasons in a U of O facility, you can come back and cry injustice.

And a coaching staff that has been proven to be unqualified to coach at any level.
I thought he won a championship in the whl as a coach. And went to the finals with an ahl team. And took a very crappy vancouver team to the 2nd round.

Is that not true?

He got carried to the finals by Demko, same as in the NHL. He proved himself to be too stupid to even be able to set the lineup properly, gifting a ton of unearned icetime to useless plugs. He absolutely destroyed the confidence of most of the stars with his gross incompetence and refusal to take any kind of accountability for the team not being ready to play consistently. Bottom line is that he did not perform any part of his job at an acceptable standard and I truly feel bad for the damage that Green and Baumgartner will do to you guys.

I mean...winning a championship in the whl and getting to the finals in the ahl doesn't back up what you said about him being unqualified to coach at any level.

Maybe he had a shit job in Vancouver, like in Ottawa when Melnyk was owner. Maybe he, like players, is ready to take the next step.

Certainly I'd argue he is, indeed, qualified. Is he the right choice? Who knows

No the Sens have a bright future, they might have one of the best under-24 group of players with Tkachuk, Stutzle, Pinto and Sanderson, it takes time to learn how to win on a regular basis in this league go ask Buffalo, Detroit, Columbus, Anaheim those team have been worst then Ottawa! I think now with a new owner, new management, new coach I think the Sens are on their way up the standings. And they also have a few very good prospects in the pipeline also, last year the Sens would have had a far better record if they had decent goaltending. This year they have Ullmark so just that should help a lot Atlantic division is a tough a division.

Brady Tkachuk will be 25 on game 1 of the season, 2 years over your specification.

Sounds like we found our guy.

Vancouver fans hate everything about their franchise and you sound like a super fan

except when they took boucher.

More injury related which happens. He’s still a a prospect in the system and will likely play gmes as a 4th line RW and we’ll see from there. He fits in with what Ottawa wants to do size, grit and temperament wise so he just needs to stay healthy

Important he does make the NHL, don’t care if Boucher turns into a grinder playing limited minutes he’s a big body who can play along the wall and Ottawa is building a cycle team so he still has a future with the team

Ottawa being worse than Edmonton at drafting is extremely concerning, considering our drafting has mostly just been throwing a dart into a crowd of WHLers and OHLers and selecting whoever's bleeding.
Outside of 2021 (and even then that was mostly a bust 1st rounder) the sens drafting is fine. 2020 looks awesome and even 2019 looks good. 2022 actually looks promising after trading away our high draft picks.

hold your horses bud! Boucher has a ways to go before he even makes the team at this rate. This was a bad pick the moment it was announced.

If you talk to many Sens fans so was Brady Tkachuk, see Stefan Noessen for a Dude who was a Sens 1st round pick who had a ton on injuries early and looked like a bust only to have a decent career as a bottom line player who was picked in the 1st round

They were 13 points out of a playoff spot. How does the math work to show us that average goaltending would have made that difference?
It also ignores that a few better teams, NJ and Detroit, would have also made the playoffs with average goaltending.
