Probably not a bad thing, no. Looks like Seattle may be the only other team without a participant.

I hope all our guys take it personally.

No respect!

In a vacuum, sure, BT is more valuable as an asset than CMM. But I don't think he's the same talent tier as his brother. He's the Jordan Staal to Matthew's Eric.

I don't think he's the player you empty the futures tank for.
When it comes to our future stockpile, I think we will be outbid easily.

But Ottawa has been rebuilding for 8 years now. They may not want more futures.

We can’t take CMM’s literal “best run ever”, see that it’s “kinda” where BTkachuk always is, and then use that as “proof” that they are similar.

I mean, come on. That’s just laughable.

Sure, if CMM pots 40g/80pts, then OK. BIG IF.

We are also not taking into consideration what a player like Tkachuk could do in THIS (Carbery’s) system. LOTS of our players are having career defining starts to the season, none more than our glorious captain.

I mean — Ottawa has 75 goals in 24 games. Capitals have 102 in 25. No even close to the same. Tkachuk would benefit from that in a BIG way as well.

Just saying.

My brain says you are correct.

My instinct says "don't mess with a good thing" and the Caps are rolling right now.

Seattle the only other team to have nobody there.

For me, great. Feel bad for few of the players but it is what it is. I like Olympics do a degree but not this tournament. I'm glad we are going to have a rested team at the crunch time.

It's less likely to happen in a meaningless tournament like 4 Nations, but if none of the Caps are selected, then none can suffer crippling emotional disappointment from losing.

(I also think Carlson gets chosen.)

I’d send CMM (rather not Protas, as he’s a different animal), Cristall, and a first. Add salary (Mangie? Or Sandin?) where needed.

Obv for BTkachuk.

6mo ago everyone would drop their pants for that deal. Let’s not over compensate for some of our players “hot starts”.

Or crippling injuries, which can be harder to repair

That's a spicy meatball!

I'm obviously higher on Cristall than most here but this seems like way too much.

I love the fact that none of our guys made any of the teams.

- Chip on their shoulder.
- No risk of any injuries during the tournament.
- Extra rest for the playoffs.

It’s like when the NHL decided to skip the 2018 Olympics. Ovi took it personally and won the Cup instead.

Kinda…

“I walk over, I grab the guy’s arm and I say, ‘Listen, buddy, if you keep harassing and assaulting the staff here, we’re going to go outside and we’re going to have some problems,’” Bissonnette said on the podcast. “The minute that left my mouth, the guy besides him starts throwing punches. And next thing you know there’s four guys swinging at me.”
Sounds like he initiated physical contact, challenged them to mutually agreed-upon combat, and then got his ass beat.

I know he’s been talking a lot about pressing charges or filing a civil suit but if that’s the way it went down it might not be as easy as he thinks.

Arizona is also a “stand your ground” state so if he grabs someone’s arm they have no duty to retreat before defending themselves. He’s honestly lucky he didn’t catch a knife or worse, sounds like he had them pegged as some drunken country club white collar guys, when in reality they’re involved in organized crime.

The alternative is pretty obvious:

"The police are on their way. I just called them."

^^^That tends to reduce the likelihood of assaults taking place moreso than grabbing people and challenging them.
Yeah seen this move pulled off successfully before.

I think he is what we've seen - a 35-35-70 type guy who brings a lot of physicality to the game. Great player archetype to have, but his brother has two 40-60-100 seasons. That's a significant gap.
He’s also older, been on more talented rosters….it’s less of a gap than between Eric and Jordan IMO.

On pace for 44g, 91pts over 82….
