Yeah, I think the most you can hope for in a town that doesn't really have a big hockey IQ is to just have the media coverage and blogs getting exhaustive access, putting all the info they can get out there, and letting fans sort it out for themselves. Local analysis is pretty weak, so it's pretty easily ignored when something smells off.
The knowledge on the blogs is erratic at best, but I like the behind-the-scenes stuff -- coverage of fan events, photo shoots, the stuff they get from basically cyberstalking the players on Twistagram. It's fluff, but it's fun and insightful sometimes. Helps fans root for them as people, not just players. Adds character and levity.
We're lucky to have the overall coverage we have here. Not a lot of shrewd analysis, but plenty of into and access to let us draw our own conclusions.
