If the players had any interest in “revenge trolling,” they’d send back Venmo requests equivalent to 1 hour of their salary for having to read and reply to such stupidity.

“I lost a shitty bet that I made because I have no impulse control and the NHL decided they needed gambling ads before, during, and after the game, so send me $50.”

“I wasted my time reading and responding to this. Here is a bill for one hour of my time: $956.”

I view this more as people just trying to troll and/or be funny (it's not) vs. genuinely thinking the player should and will pay them back.

Yeah, to me this is people just trolling or taking a shot in the dark on the off chance the athlete doesn't really read requests and they get paid.

Advertising of an addictive activity such as gambling on many NHL telecasts, combined with a movement of society toward Idiocracy -- nobody should be surprised at these types of stories. Whether the fans are serious or trolling they need to get a life and leave players alone.
