With Craig Morgan stating on twitter that Morris told him he wouldn't be back next year, I feel it's appropriate to give D-Mo a thread.

Thank you for being a good soldier during your time here NHL Player Derek Morris, you were a great leader and an enjoyable player to watch. And for the love of God thank you for scoring on Jonathan Quick from center ice.

Despite my frustration with his play at times this year, I wish him nothing but the best going forward, and hope he can rebound and get a shot at the cup in a supporting role with another team next year.

Said this already in the roster thread, but I'll copy it here:

Thanks for all your service on and off the ice, NHL Player Derek Morris. When you were good, you were certainly "Morris for Norris" good. Wish you the best.

You were solid for us for a good while, Morris. Thank you for that and always being willing to stick up for your teammates.

It'd be an honor to get forearm shivered by Derek Morris :P

I have a feeling he will end up in Boston.

If it weren't for our ridiculous depth on defense, I would want Derek to retire a Coyote. I can think of 2 defensemen I'd rather lose than Morris. Dude is nothing but solid and an amazing spokesperson for hockey in the desert. It's unfortunate that his contract ends the year we need to shed defense.

That. Am I correct remembering that he was the only player at the fateful City Council meeting last summer. Good defender and so often the first reinforcements to arrive in a big scrum. When that chip was properly located on his shoulder, he was a damn savage. Thanks for the effort NHL player Derek Morris!

I wouldn't be upset if he stayed but I think the writing was on the wall down the stretch. Morris is one of my favorite all time Yotes and it sucks to see how things kind of went down in the end, I always thought he'd retire a Coyote. Anyway, assuming the speculation is true, I really hope his off ice family issues get worked out for good. His play is literally night and day when things are going well for him personally. I suppose that's true of a lot of players but some can compartmentalize and some can't. At any rate, good luck to one of the most popular Coyotes ever but more importantly good luck first and foremost to Derek the person.

Hands down my favorite Morris moment of all time!!!!

I hope he retires and takes a position in the front office. HIs skills seemed to have declined this year. I wonder if he might take the coaching route.

Quality guy, just couldn't shake whatever it was bothering him off the ice. His mind was elsewhere most nights.

It sucks to lose that father figure on the blueline and I hope the management have a good plan for that role going forward. Even though there has been some lows lately I've always been a fan of NHL player Derek Morris and I wish him all the best in the future!

One of the most respected Coyotes player in our time here in the desert. Can't say a bad thing about him. He will be missed. Abdelkader knows not to mess with us when he's on the ice.

Thank you DeMo for showing up to town hall meeting. Thank you for all the reverse shoulders you put on opponents. It was a joy to watch and I hope you were a good sensei to the younger guys and taught them your technique. Thank you for coming back in 09-10 and being the Vet this team needed and sticking through the tough times. I hope there is another team that needs you the same way the Coyotes needed you but I also hope there isn't because it would be hard to see you in another jersey. Also, thank you for realizing the sun is setting on you and deciding to make way for the next group.

Thank you for everything

Im surprised given his close relationship with the franchise and management. I didnt expect him to join another team. When I read this, I thought retirement.

He was mostly really good. Just had a rough patch these last couple of season. One of the most games played by a player in Phoenix, I imagine.

Third all time, only 7 games behind Teppo.

Top 15 GP's as Coyotes.

Shane Doan 1241 347 498 845
Teppo Numminen 551 55 214 269
Derek Morris 544 38 114 152

I have always liked Morris as a person. Stand-up guy with excellent leadership skills and great team spirit.

As far as his skills are concerned, I don't really remember a 'Morris4Norris' while he was in the desert. Either way, all the best in whatever you are doing next, DeMo!

Came here to post this. Amazing stuff.

Knocks Abdelkader down twice, lands another left, linesman jumps in, he lands another left, the second linesman jumps in, then he switches hands and lands a right.

:handclap:
