Didn’t see this posted anywhere. Found something not behind a paywall. Katz probably landed where he should, bottom third of the rankings. At least we aren’t owned Pegula or Aquillini.

Fans are not great people to be judging owners.

Example - Tom Dundon being anywhere near the top of the list.
The fan piece is one part of the matrix to determine these rankings and so they do influence them overall. They also include other inputs. But generally, I do agree.

I think in general teams that have higher expectations and are having difficulty meeting them, its going to look worse even though it probably isn’t.

Like I think for example, Ottawa is the highest ranked Canadian team. But the fanbase is excited because they are finally looking like they make the playoffs. So everyone is happy there which they probably should be.

But is there owner or organization better than Edmonton or Toronto if we were to take the emotion out of it? Probably not.

That being said I don’t mind Katzs feet getting held to fire a bit. For the cards hes been dealt, he could of done a much better job of putting better people in place. I still wonder with someone like Schwartz if he has some tie with Katz keeping him here.

Buffalo deserves to be last. That poor fanbase.

Katz was content to hire old Oilers and friends before McDavid fell into his lap. I could care less that he had a new arena built (never mind he threatened to move the team), the guy's a bum. If it's true that he was blowing up the phones of Jackson and Bowman he has nobody to blame but himself for his disgraceful ownership.

Its Athletic and its paywall blocked. Couldn't see any of the article.

Also I'll reveal to you my trick for getting past those tricky paywalls. When you open the article, hit CTRL+A then CTRL+C on your keyboard, then paste into notepad/word/whatever. Huzzah, you got past the paywall.
I followed your directions and my bank account was just sent to a militant email spamming overlord while my hard drive is locked and stuck in the ditch.

With the current state of our dollar I think your money is safe.

Anyway long story short, Katz is willing to spend but is held back by cycling through several GMs (all of which were failures) and other such questionable hires and team stability.

Or your money at the average Oilers game (something else the article mentions)
Oilers fans: "Here, take all my money, can I line up to give you more?".

Imagine people spending thousands for tickets and not thinking this translates to everybody having to pay more in near future.

Oilers: "We noticed theres resale uptick and we want it all, too bad STH trying to subsidize your expenditure on resales."

I still like Fansfirst for tickets. No extra bullshit random nonsense fees. Sites like Ticketmaster or STH can f*** off though.

I'm saving up for the 1st playoff game to watch live at least with my fiance since it'd be both our first time experiencing it. Won't be cheap, but fansfirst will surely still beat the other 2 crap sites or any other that yaps about "cheaper seats, come here to purchase" than see the price in USD. Yeah, never buying it from those sites, good try though!

I wish I could transport you and others for SC playoff tickets for 20bucks and seeing the best team on Earth play. Plus back then the added bonus of being able to retain ticket stubs (I have hundreds) of games attended. For me those old ticket stubs are real fungible tokens. haha.

enjoy the game. I'm not in the game anymore for tickets and have moved on. Only TV viewing now and prefer it that way.

Yeah, unfortunately, that's how the world is now compared to before haha.
Hopefully at least I see some cup wins here, preferably with McDrai as Oilers and retiring as Oilers. Seeing us lose in the finals during the 05/06 cinderella run was hurtful but I was still a kid and just ended up going out biking with friends the next day. The G7 SCF loss last year? That broke my heart way worse compared to the 1st run lol. Walking out of the watch party from Rogers Place and seeing how much more quiet the atmosphere, surroundings, and crowd was like people leaving a memorial. Some fans laying on the concrete crying or looking like their happiness got sucked out dry, some sitting on the sidewalks with their heads down on their hands, and others with their heads down and smoking cigarettes. Never want to experience that feeling again.

That picture alone triggers PTSD. Gladhanding f***ing smiling Nicholburger. "Top to down forensic analysis we promise Oilers fans we'll get it right this time. Team promptly announces hire of Chiarelli.

That asshole should've been canned from the Oilers organization ever since the Hockey Canada hush money got leaked while he was a CEO there.
Such a moron. But but but it was Tobias Rieder's fault for the Oilers not making it to the post season.
Him and his overrated shit burger can f*** off. I have no idea why he's still allowed to be involved with the Oilers organization, but then again, we still employ jack ass Dustin Schwartz so lol.

This is gonna sound odd in the scheme of things but if I wasn't working this is just the thing I would do the day after the Oilers winning a SC. Go for a good bike ride.

It sounds strange to say to people that haven't experienced it but watching a team win a cup in person, while surreal, pretty quickly descends into this is not about me, its not a first person experience, its not a self accomplishment, its external. So that while theres bedlam and a high and you can't sleep and its like christmas and all that for a day life goes on as usual. Win or lose.

That said game 7 against Philly felt like orgasm. Screaming yelling from rooftops bedlam. Thought the roof would fall in. Building was shaking with volume. Wish you and others get to experience that firsthand. That said Ford Hall feels trippy at anytime. Don't go on it if we win. haha

Yeah, the whole arena was shaking when Janmark scored in G7. You'd think the game was there live in person with how loud and electric the atmosphere was. I would say if it was G7 here instead of Florida, we would've won the cup last season also. Their Livin on a prayer attempt was so f***ing garbage compared to ours along with their lame ass cup parade celebration. Literally had a video the next day where 3 panther players were holding the cup on a sidewalk, and people just either walked by or drove past without a care in the world. One thing I do appreciate though is the city here just glows when it comes to playoff hockey and everybody just high fives you and cheers. Can't wait to experience it again, just hopefully this run goes deep and gets a stanley cup as a result even though all of the hopes are on our terrible goalies shoulders.

The answer to the question likely depends on who you ask. Fans answer is likely based on how their team is doing and their expectations. Players will give you a completely different answer. From everything I've heard our players think our owner and the way the club treats the players is first class.

I find it such a travesty that the two times this milennium we have lost in SC final is that the victors were respectively Carolina and Florida Buttman type non hockey market teams.

In fact in 2006 I was so ardently cheering for Buffalo and DISGUSTED that it was the Carolina Candycanes as SC opponent. haha I had such colorful things to say about it here I got in some trouble. At least with Buffalo as an opponent its a hockey market, longstanding team, and like Minny almost feels like a Canadian city.
