NHL News/Notes XIX

Most of us here already hate the Ducks so I guess that works out.

Someone's going to have to reset their "it's been X days since we've been labeled a scumbag organization" sign to zero.

He was always good enough that eventually somewhere was going to give him another chance provided he's kept his nose clean and (hopefully) demonstrated that he actually understands that what he did was horrendously wrong and is properly making amends for it. But for it to come this quickly, right back at the NHL level, and during the trial that's going on right now involving NHL players is gallingly, frustratingly tone deaf.

The NHL doesn't actually care, so this was always going to happen once they could let enough time pass for feelings to either die down or people to have other things to worry about more.

Yes, it's absolutely tone deaf and offensive (and would be even without the trial), but, frankly, the sort of people who work in decision-making roles in professional sports are largely selfish scumbags.

Absolutely agree. If that wasn't the case we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place.

The ULTIMATE news dump, announce your head coach who was implicated in the cover up of sex crimes that helped protect an abuser who went on to hurt children on POPE DAY

W Ducks PR, much strat, very sneak

Foote was a godawful coach in his short stint at the head of Kelowna in the WHL (which he only seemed to get because his kids were in the org), so this feels kinda like failing upward on name recognition.

Meanwhile, there but for the grace of god goes Manny Malhotra, who's seemingly done a great job guiding the Abbotsford Canucks deep into the playoffs with a pretty jank roster.
