Peel should have said "It wasn't much, but I wanted to get a f***in' penalty against Teal early in the ...". The league would have awarded him a medal.

They actually didn't ban Peel but forced him into early retirement, by about a couple of months.

Yea, basically. Trying to keep whatever little respectability this terrible league still has.

Imagine using the argument that refs are human when they make bad calls, but not believing the same thing when people say they have biases.

Especially when the commissioner’s head explodes and he sends 2 reffing crews home. I’d have to imagine that’ll change how a ref consciously or subconsciously refs that team going forward.

There is no way he loses anything. He is probably going to get some side cash for being the fall guy.

Hopefully this will just be the tip of iceberg and if this really goes on as much as we all expect it does, will lead to some sort of change.

I doubt it. With Peel getting an early vacation and his pension intact, this has all the makings of an optics move. If they didn't say anything after the 18-19 playoffs with two crews getting sent home after making defensible calls, they won't get involved now.

Oshie just got a Ranger up near the head after an offside whistle and didn’t even get a minor.
