"In our profession -- other than owning a sports franchise -- the owners of the Tampa Bay FireSticks deal in depth with words every day. We are extremely concerned with meaning, context, style, definitions, and messages both overt and implied. At the same time, we fully recognize that English is an ... umm ... imperfect language, derived from a host of other languages, that continues to (d)evolve with each successive generation. However, we are currently in a time when, as with too many vices, word misuse and wrong grammar are encouraged and celebrated. People in professional capacities too often put their lack of knowledge about language on display:
"We won't even get into the Great Merriam-Webster's "Literally" Debacle, even though they supported their ironic definition

"We therefore select
Poor Grammar and Spelling as our Team Pet Peeve.
"We turn, yet again, to the owner of the franchise that is the poster child for failure of the public education system, @BiggE."
