I'd like to meet a Caroline. Any Caroline. I'd walk up to her and go "You know, you're not
that sweet."
We start the day with
@JojoTheWhale on the clock and
@Chuck Downie on deck with a pair (phrasing).
@ajgoal can make up his pick anytime.
Here's a common thing that is happening. A new thing is introduced - in this case, women covering sports. In principle, you want to support it - gender equality (all equality) is good. But then women start covering sports before they are ready, and they aren't very good. You want to support them through it, like "Let's let them work their way into the role on the job just like anyone else." It's difficult to hold on to your principles when they irritate you. It's even more difficult when it doesn't make any sense for certain individuals to cover certain things in an "expert" role. Jessica Mendoza is a softball player in an "expert" role for baseball. Softball is not baseball - it's just different. I saw some hilarious memes about it the other day, and my own deep wells of sarcasm were screaming at me long before that. But she's not that bad on broadcasts - she needs to settle the f*** down in the studio, but during games she's not that bad. And that's the thing - she's no worse than Alex f***ing Rodriguez, in particular, and countless others in general. It's just that I saw her this morning in the studio, and she was totally spastic, and I am irritated, so I am thinking out loud.
