They need all the help they can getIt's a Southern US team. They'll probably give them a draft pick and leniency on their cap, giving them props for showing initiative.
It's probably more a case of the younger guys doing whatever it takes to make it in the NHL and not get sent down to the minors. They do what they are told. From the article it appears they were "expected" to be there for that practice, as in "told to be there or else". It wasn't an optional practice for them in any way.Either the players are to stupid to understand they do not need to practice during the break, or they are to stupid to realize this is what they wanted in the newest CBA and it will be the first thing the league uses as leverage come CBA talks in 2 years.
You probably don't understand what peer pressure is in a social environment such as a team.NHL banning young players from hanging out with teammates at a free skate at the team facility is the funniest thing ever.
NO YOU MUST STAY AT HOME ALONE AND CAN'T TRAIN!

Not even giving them a choice is the only correct move.
have you contacted the league and provided the independent results of your investigation? So Wyatt Johnston felt peer-pressure to be there but Sam Steel and Colin Blackwell didn't?
One guy leads the team in TOI for forwards by 2 minutes, is the most relied upon center, the other two are fringe NHLers/4th liners.. and the budding superstar felt the pressure to be there..
You're missing the point. That poster was explaining why "optional" practices like this are explicitly banned in the CBA.So Wyatt Johnston felt peer-pressure to be there but Sam Steel and Colin Blackwell didn't?

Well according to tweets apparently the Stars are being fined by the NHL, so it must be closer to our reality than yours.Like I said from the start, the NHL can investigate and if the team was involved through coaches/staff its 100% worth a fine.
BUT
The single quote from DeBoer doesn't necessarily make it fine worthy without further detail and people who I respond to are assuming so many things from the DeBoer quote. They assume it was a practice, they assume it was team led, they assume many details.

The rule isn't made for the Stars specific. I'm sure you understand why it's there but keep on trolling. So Wyatt Johnston felt peer-pressure to be there but Sam Steel and Colin Blackwell didn't?

you are really splitting hairs here that doesn't matter. It doesnt matter if it was a practice or a skate. Teams were told to not open their facilities to players over the break. Full stop. When did the coach use the word practice? He didn't.
Did you listen to the press conference where he listed off the players that were on the ice before he was even in the building? They were skating when he walked in to the facility.. interesting practice setup there.
People are so hard stuck on it being a practice, when it wasn't. Elliot Freidman and Robert Tiffin are now calling it a "skate" and not a "practice" anymore because the reporting wasn't even correct lmao
What does it f***ing matter? It could be an optional video session and there would be a problem. The issue is, that it's obviously not optional for those fringe NHL players and rookeis, who are fighting for a spot in the lineup. They are pressured into working on their bargained holiday. So was it a practice or not?
the stars were in violation by just having their facility open....Like I said from the start, the NHL can investigate and if the team was involved through coaches/staff its 100% worth a fine.

Who are you attacking and who are you defending in this post?Woah, so many folks playing their years-old victim cards here.
Bring out yourdeadpast injustices!
Perhaps an exception clause for saving everyone's time at the airport. What choice did they have?
Should they have just ignored the rule break and put themselves in breach of contract with the NHLPA?
It’s one of those the rules are the rules situation no matter how inconvenient it was for the parties involved.
And the 100K fine was likely just viewed as the cost of doing business for the Maple Leafs
Nobody, just making a general observation. Readers may themselves decide upon those for whom this shoe fits.Who are you attacking and who are you defending in this post?
