I think this happened with the Canucks when Tocchet first came aboard, players wanted to be early to start camp. Ended up being a team fine.
Name any institution, anywhere, that isn’t corrupt.Funny, NHL makes this a big deal but ignores teams circumventing the cap to cheat and win in the playoffs.
What a dumb shit rule, no one with a brain was working that day.The Leafs got a 100k fine 2 years ago for flying out to St Louis an hour and a half early.
So there is definitely some precedent here.
And before anyone try’s to say it was an optional skate vs a mandatory flight, the players unanimously voted to fly out early as it avoided some inclement weather. Other wise they would have had faced long delays on a flight on game day.

CBA is a contract agreement between employer and employees…….it covers both the cap and required days off.The NHL has a lot more at stake by not enforcing their legal contracts

I mean I get it. It’s supposed to be a no exceptions rule negotiated into the CBA by both the players and the owners. What a dumb shit rule, no one with a brain was working that day.
Yes, I know that’s my point. But that is not any violation the NHL is doing to the players. Like the process already includes the NHLPA and second opinions with independent doctors.
In this case, the NHL can be sued by the NHLPA and it also weakens relations to not respond right before CBA negotiations start
It's a Southern US team. They'll probably give them a draft pick and leniency on their cap, giving them props for showing initiative.Take their first round pick away, it’s only fair.

They can’t see the trees through the forest at times.
