Strong ratings for start of 4 Nations Face Off. TNT was number one for the night for the male demo for ages 18-34, 18-49 and and 25-54. That includes network TV programs not just cable.

Hoping this is the start to droping the All Star game soon

Have one next year then we'll see. Still need something every other year during the 'break'.

Surely some of the to-date and likely to continue positive #'s are because these are teams (e.g. McDavid playing w/Crosby) we haven't seen. Been so long since the last true best-on-best there's a freshness/newness to this.

Every other year (Olympics & World Cup) you can keep that anticipation/as something that matters. If NHL sees the #'s for this and starts treating it like they did outdoor games ("we need a million of these games per season!") then instead of CAN-SWE doing 4.1M in NA it'll quickly become 1.5M in CAN and 500k in the U.S..

Anything less than 5 million on ABC is a massive disappointment. Broadcast, no competition, and plenty of big names on the ice. I don’t want to hear any excuses.
We can change the goal posts and try and set up a scenario where if it doesn't hit a certain viewership number is becomes a disappointment. The other option is to already view this as a tremendous success (I didn't think it would) and something to build on for 2028. USA/Finland led all demo's for younger viewers for all networks the other night. Don't recall anyone expecting that? This isn't the Olympics that had 26.7 viewers for USA/Canada gold medal game in US. It is a NHL made for TV event. With some competition from the NBA skills competition 3.5 million in the US would a good number and carry the night for viewership. 5 million would be great though! I agree.
