A very busy day in NJ continues as the Devils re-sign Brendan Shanahan to a 1 year, 600k contract. We feel like we have the deepest forward core in the league and a solid defense that still might be improved. Your post-Shanny signing NJ Devils

Parise - Zajac - Langenbrunner
Elias - Langkow - Bergfors
LaRose - Zubrus - Clarkson
Shanny - Rolston - Halischuk
Ex: Pelley, PL3

Martin - Corrente
Aucoin - Oduya
White - Greene
Mottau

Brodeur
Danis

Dont know about deepest but damn most of them are great 2-way guys with lots of experience.

Pittsburgh Penguins get great value in a deal for Ales Kotalik!

1 year, $1.9M is the deal. Here is our lineup with maybe only one or 2 more tweaks to go:

Kariya(6)-Crosby(8.7)-Guerin(2.5)
Kostitsyn(.816667)-Malkin(8.7)-Kotalik(1.9)
Cooke(1.2)-Staal(4)-Kennedy(.725)
Talbot(1.05)-Zigomanis(.6)-Adams(.6)

Orpik(3.75)-Gonchar(5)
Letang(.835)-Eaton(2)
Lovejoy(.85)-Goligoski(1.65)

Fleury(5)
Curry(.6)

Total:$56.48

We are still looking for a big, physical stay-at-home #6 D-man. Must be cheap. Will give up plenty of picks/prospects to get the job done.

Montreal Canadiens have made a Big Splash !!

The Canadiens have come to an agreement with Jay Bouwmeester.
He signed a 10 year deal worth $73M, with a full NMC.

"We are really pleased to have a player like JayBo come to Montreal. The Habs have also signed Nik Antropov to a 3 year deal worth $3.95M per season.

And Sergei Federov has agreed to terms with the Habs as well.

Habs Lineup:

Boyes 4 - Antropov 3.95 - Kunitz 3.725
A.Kostitsyn 3.25 - Plekanec 3 - Hudler 3.25

Dont get upset about it, big name players tend to flock to more competive teams, I know you are not in a rebuilding mode with some of the trades you have made but people still look at Atlanta as a team outside of the playoffs for now. Dont get discouraged, that is just how things work

I actually thought Bouwmeester might be a more Atlanta type guy rather than a spotlight kinda guy. And I resent Montreal being "significantly" better :(

Who's the last big name UFA that signed in Atlanta?
And when the agent said 'significantly better' I'm pretty sure he was talking money-wise (hence the over a million more comment)
