Yeah Holland was the guy I knew I wanted at that pick, I was having a hard time deciding between Ellis and two other players for that next pick...Ellis wound up getting picked, but I still am not so sure I made the right decision.

The Vancouver Canucks would like to announce that they have completed a trade which will send Cory Schneider and Michael Grabner to the St. Louis Blues for Lars Eller, the Blues 1st round pick in 2010, and Ben Bishop. We wish Cory and Michael the best of luck in St. Louis, and eagerly await the Canuck debuts of Lars Eller and Ben Bishop.

The St. Louis Blues send Lars Eller, Ben Bishop, and their 1st round pick in 2010 to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Cory Schnieder and Micheal Grabner.

"We we're in need of a young goaltender who can eventually take over as our starter and we have a lot of faith that Schnieder will be that goaltender. We also think that Grabner will be ready to step into the roster this season. We are pleased with our deal and are pleased with the team we have put together this offseason." Blues GM Larry Pleau announced today.

"We have decided to give the captaincy to McClement as we feel he is the most qualified for the job. His leadership on and off the ice is very valued in our organization." St. Louis Blues president John Davidson told reporters this afternoon.

"It's an honor to be named captain. After the extension I was given, I knew this club wanted me here. Now after being named captain, it truly shows how much I mean to this club.

"I will work my hardest to help lead this team to victory and the biggest goal, the Stanley Cup. We're going to get there. I believe that this club has what it takes to make that push. We have quality goaltending, a very solid defensive core, and a powerful offense. We're going to be a force to be reckoned with."
Blues forward and new captain Jay McClement spoke with the media today.
