Red Wings- St. Louis Cardinals.

Not always championship favorites, but always competitive.

I'm not a big NBA fan but the Preds and Grizzlies kind of share more than the same state. Not really any stars but a lot of good, hard working players. Almost always competitive and in the playoffs but always flame out early.

The New York Rangers are the Boston Red Sox. It's to a T.

-Strong early success (Red Sox were a juggernaut in the 1910s, Rangers won 3 championships pretty fast)

-A legendary curse caused by a single action (Selling Babe Ruth, burning the lease to MSG in the cup)

-Extremely long championship droughts (54 years for NYR, 86 for the Sox)

-A star-studded 70s in which they were improbably overshadowed each time they had a chance (Rangers by the Bruins and Habs, ....Bucky ****in Dent)

-A nigh-miraculous playoff run to finally break the damn curse (Rangers with the Matteau heroics, Red Sox coming back from 3-0 down)

-Strong recent success

I hate the Red Sox with the undying passion of ten quadrillion suns but the Rangers and Red Sox are a perfect analogy.

Ugh Penguins ARE NOT the Cleveland Cavs nor Colts.
Pittsburgh is an outstanding hockey town.
They just have been bi polar in terms of being God awful or God gifted. Never in between.

Also, Leafs aren't the Knicks or Cubs. Leafs have won 13 titles. I'd say they are more similar to the Chicago Bears.
